Last night, a new version of Splatoon was made available. This added some new weapons while also making adjustments to older ones.

Nintendome has now put up a video demonstrating the weapon changes. Get a look at it in the video below.

Alongside today’s new Splatoon update, several weapons were added to the game in the form of Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 1. You can take a look at the weapons below.

Splatoon’s latest version has gone live. Nintendo has published version 2.7.0 on its servers, and it’s now available for download. Note that 764MB is needed for the download.

To recap, here are the patch notes in full:

New weapons

  • Eight new weapons added, available in the weapon shop Ammo Knights
    • Please note: the new weapons will appear in the shop following the release of the software update.

Update: Bumped to the top. Final two weapons are below.

Refurbished Mini Splatling

No prawn shop jokes please! The Refurbished Mini Splatling is made from the remains of a tragically destroyed Mini Splatling…It features Burst Bombs as the sub weapon and packs a Bomb Rush as its special. That’s a lot of inkage happening in a hurry! Sheldon recommends this one for splatters who wanna leave everyone and everything in sight dripping with ink!

Tempered Dynamo Roller

Meet the Tempered Dynamo Roller. This heavy-weight roller gained mobility to quickly run up to the front lines by adding the Seeker as a sub weapon. The quiet but tasteful color tone might lull your opponents into a sense of security before BAM! Killer Wail! Pile on the pressure!

Nintendo has highlighted two more upcoming Splatoon inclusions from Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 1, a set of eight weapons being added to the game tomorrow evening.

Here’s the rundown on the Soda Slosher and Bamboozler 14 Mk III:

Soda Slosher

The Soda Slosher is based on a regular ol’ Slosher, but with some adjustments to the setup. Splat Bombs support the basic strategy, and the addition of the Inkzooka provides ranged power lacking in other models. And the bucket colors are pretty sweet too. Just sayin’.

Bamboozler 14 Mk III

According to Sheldon, this set REDEFINES what it means to be a Bamboozler! Do you think you’re ready? The Bamboozler 14 Mk III takes the Mk I and swaps out the barrel for a different bamboo pipe. This set’s selling point is how the main weapon and the Burst Bombs can really hammer your opponent! That’s not to mention the Inkstrike, which can make life difficult for even far-off enemies.

Screenshots of the Soda Slosher and Bamboozler 14 Mk III are posted below. Details and screenshots for four other weapons are located here, along with the Splatoon version 2.7.0 patch notes.

The official Splatoon website has announced the 13th Splatfest for Japan. This will begin on April 23 at 9 AM local time, lasting for a full day.

The upcoming Splatfest is being held in partnership with 7-Eleven. It pits two versions of onigiri up against each other: mayonnaise tuna and mature red salmon.

We’ll have the results on the site after the Splatfest ends later this month.

A big update is coming to Splatoon next week. Not only will version 2.7.0 be available, but eight weapons (Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 1) are being added as well.

What we’ll be seeing first is some maintenance on April 12 (April 13 for those in Europe). That’ll happen during the following times:

– 4:50 PM PT – 6 PM PT
– 7:50 PM ET – 9 PM ET
– 12:50 AM in the UK – 2 AM in the UK
– 1:50 AM in Europe – 3 AM in Europe

The Sheldon’s Picks weapons will then be added at the following times:

– 7 PM PT
– 10 PM ET
– 3 AM in the UK
– 4 AM in Europe

Here’s a rundown of four of the weapons featured in Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 1:

Wasabi Splattershot

This beauty is a Splattershot set featuring a few key adjustments by Sheldon. The main weapon is pretty much the same as before, but Splat Bombs amp up its frontline capability. Alternatively, try calling in an Inkstrike to scatter the opposition and give your teammates the advantage. This is just the set for the discerning Inkling looking for something spicy!

Berry Splattershot Pro

Don’t let the tasty paint job fool ya! This remixed Splattershot Pro includes Suction Bombs and Bomb Rush to help punch through the opponent’s defenses, letting you finish things off with the great firing range of the main.

Fresh Squiffer

Fresh Squiffer is a Classic Squiffer retooled to allow a different approach. Pairing Suction Bombs with the Squiffer makes it even easier to get the upper hand in battle, and you can quickly turn the tables on foes with the Kraken! Definitely not a set for squids who are afraid to get their tentacles dirty!

The Permanent Inkbrush

The Permanent Inkbrush is a set remixed by Sheldon to include the high-powered sub of Splat Bombs while retaining the great mobility of earlier models. Recommended for aggressive Inklings with an uncontrollable urge to wreak maximum havoc. Watch out for the Kraken special!

Head past the break for Splatoon’s 2.7.0 patch notes (requires 764 MB).

Update (4/6): Bumped to the top. It’s now been decided that the Squid Sisters will perform on April 29.

Original (3/24): Splatoon’s Squid Sisters held a performance at Niconico Tokaigi 2016 nearly two months ago. Towards the end of April, Marie and Callie will be back in action.

Nintendo is planning on having the Squid Sisters appear at Niconico Chokaigi. We’re waiting on more concrete information, but additional details will be shared at a later date.

NicoNico Choukagi will run on April 29 and April 30.

Yet another piece of Splatoon merchandise is on the way. The game will be receiving its own lint remover based on the Splat Roller.

Last week, it was revealed that a squirt gun based on Splattershot’s squirt gun is in the works. That item is set to be released in Japan in July.

Splatoon’s latest European Splatfest has now wrapped up, and Nintendo has made the results available. Just like in North America, the 12th competition was a closely contested battle.

Team Hoverboard was victorious thanks to small edges in both votes (51 percent) and wins (52 percent). You can’t get much close than that! In the end, Team Hoverboard took home 363 points compared to Team Jet Pack’s 337 points.

Splatoon picked up a win at the 2016 SXSW Gaming Awards last night. Nintendo’s shooter was selected as “Most Promising New Intellectual Property”. Splatoon beat out Bloodborne, Life is Strange, Ori & the Blind Forest, and Undertale.

SXSW shared the news on Twitter yesterday through the following message:
