The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Grant Kirkhope just wrapped up his work on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle as the game’s composer. But Mario isn’t the only Nintendo franchise Kirkhope is interested in contributing to.

Speaking with GamesMaster this month, Kirkhope spoke about really wanting “to get on to Zelda”. Part of this is due to Zelda: A Link to the Past being his favorite game of all time, and having a great deal of respect for the soundtrack.

One of the statues First 4 Figures took pre-orders for earlier this year was The King of Red Lions from Zelda: Wind Waker. It now seems that production is complete, as IGN has posted an unboxing video. Have a look at it below.

At Japan Expo in France, The Art of Legend of Zelda Series Masterclass was held with series producer Eiji Aonuma, art director Satoru Takizawa, and illustrator Yusuke Nakano. Thanks to Nintendo UK, the full event is now online with English subtitles. Check it out below.

Nintendo of France has uploaded a video of the full Master Class – The Art of the Legend of Zelda Series panel from Japan Expo to Youtube. Eiji Aonuma (producer), Eiji Nakano (illustrator) and Satoru Takizawa (art director) talked about what it was like creating the art of Breath of the Wild and several other Zelda games. Note that the panel was held in French (and Japanese), so you’ll have to understand either of those two languages to get the full experience out of this.

Nintendo has been sharing special Zelda art pieces to promote the masterclass held by series producer Eiji Aonuma and other developers at Japan Expo. Following the event of the session, the final piece of art was published online. You can view it above, and look at the other two pieces of art here and here.

At the Zelda Masterclass panel at Japan Expo in Paris, it was revealed that more Zelda behind-the-scenes books will be making their way to the West.

First up is Hyrule Encyclopedia, which is an extensive visual guide to the world of The Legend of Zelda, containing tons of art and information about the various items, enemies, locations etc across the series. It is currently set to be released in September in France, though we’d be surprised if it wasn’t released at the same time in other countries and languages.

Nintendo published another piece of new Zelda art just in time for Japan Expo 2017. Series producer Eiji Aonuma and other developers will be hosting a special masterclass at the French expo this week.

As for the art, it’s based on Eugène Delacroix’s “La Liberté guidant le peuple”. That’s an artwork at the Louvre, in case you were unaware.

In celebration of the masterclass, a new piece of art has been published online. Take a look at the image above.

“The Art of The Legend of Zelda Series” masterclass will be held on Friday. It will be hosted between 12:30 PM and 1:15 PM local time.

It’s not all leaks coming out of the Japan Expo Twitter account today. The account also confirmed that The Legend of Zelda mastermind Eiji Aonuma will hold a “The Art of The Legend of Zelda Series” masterclass at the convention in Paris in July.

Aonuma won’t be the first big Nintendo developer to appear at Japan Expo. Last year, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda was there to talk about Pokemon and in 2015, Shigeru Miyamoto himself also held a masterclass there.

Nintendo has been in the mobile game market for a while now and has released several games, with more on the way. According to the Wall Street Journal, one of Nintendo’s next mobile games will be one based on The Legend of Zelda. Supposedly, “people familiar with the matter” said that a Zelda mobile game would be released sometime after the Animal Crossing mobile game, which is apparently being released in the latter half of 2017, although the release timing and release order could still change. Neither Nintendo nor DeNA commented on the matter.

That’s not all, though – according to the Wall Street Journal, The Pokemon Company is planning to release a new Pokemon Trading Card Game app on mobile devices. This is peculiar since a Pokemon TCG app already exists and can be played on mobile games – Pokemon TCG Online has been around for a while and is still supported to this day.

As always, takes rumors like this with a grain of salt. While the WSJ is usually fairly reliable when it comes to their sources and a Zelda mobile game isn’t exactly a far-fetched idea, this is far from an official confirmation. Thankfully, E3 is right around the corner, so we might hear more about either of these rumored games in a couple of weeks.
