Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered review

System: Switch
Release date: December 10, 2024
Developer: Crystal Dynamics
Publisher: Aspyr

One of many series that I have mourned the loss of over the last two decades is Legacy of Kain. After the disastrous Nosgoth spinoff was cancelled and the IP was passed back and forth over the years with various acquisitions, it seemed to be a series that would be eventually forgotten about. The Soul Reaver duology received widespread critical acclaim at the time of their release, and even though this was 25 years ago, their resurrection on the Nintendo Switch as Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered shows that time has done little to dull what made them such noteworthy titles when they were first released.

Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Tri

Zelda games are known for their companions, and in Echoes of Wisdom, Tri served that purpose. In a Famitsu interview, the team gave some insight into how the character was finalized.

The most interesting thing here is that, according to co-director Tomomi Sano, Tri originally had a more human-like design in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. However, after Tri’s role shifted a bit, so did the character itself. Series producer Eiji Aonuma also stated that having the character not be human was “essential” since “the fact they couldn’t understand human emotions was an important point.”

Tetris Forever is rolling out an update on Nintendo Switch today, and it’s a pretty big one as it includes Welltris as a new playable game and player-requested features.

Welltris (Spectrum Holobyte, MS-DOS) was the first follow-up to Tetris created by Alexey Pajitnov. According to Digital Eclipse, it’s “a beloved variant in which Tetriminos (and other shapes) fall down four sides of a well.”

Catly

December 12: SuperAuthenti has announced Catly, and it’s heading to Nintendo Switch. A release window has not yet been confirmed.

Catly is an open-world adventure game, and as the name implies, it’s all about cats. More information can be found in the following overview:

Nintendo Switch 2 rumors dock Joy-Con drift

The past few weeks have been absolutely nuts for Nintendo Switch 2 rumors. Something that’s been going around lately are claims from Redditor user “NextHandheld”, who says he’s not only seen the system, but was even able to get their hands on it.

We’ve not shared any of those rumors as it all just seemed a bit too outlandish, but The Verge spoke with them and now says they’ve “heard and seen enough to think they might be legit.” The Verge is a respected outlet, and in a way, is putting its reputation on the line for mentioning that. Nothing is confirmed still, but we felt that this would at least be worth sharing – and you can decide whether or not to believe it.
