Nintendo shared new data today revealing the top 20 best-selling games on the Japanese Switch eShop for January 2024.
Nothing seems to be slowing down Suika Game as it again leads the way. As far as the releases go, the new Shiren the Wanderer debuts at #2 and Another Code: Recollection comes in at #15.

Snail Games and NewGen are preparing a Switch version of West Hunt, according to an eShop listing. A release is slated for February 8, 2024.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet just released their latest update, version 3.0.1.
A number of different bugs have been fixed here. Among them is one involving materials needed to craft TM223 dropped by a creature that only appeared in one version of th egame.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong demo just released, overview trailer

Starting today, Mario vs. Donkey Kong fans can get their hands on a brand new demo ahead of launch.
The demo can be accessed via the Switch eShop. It includes four levels from the first world of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, the enhanced version of the Game Boy Advance. Also available is a first look at the new Two Player mode, where you can share one of your Joy-Con controllers with a friend and team up as Mario and Toad. That’s along with access to the game’s new difficulty settings in single-player mode – choose Classic Style to experience the same difficulty level as the original Game Boy Advance version or try out Casual Style with no time limit and the ability to restart from checkpoints.

Sonic x Shadow Generations announced, coming to Switch

More than a decade after its original release, Sonic Generations is making a comeback with a remaster known as Sonic x Shadow Generations. It will be available on Switch this fall.
This is actually going beyond a simple remaster. A brand new campaign will be added focusing on Shadow the Hedgehog while the main game features “upgraded visuals and new bonus content.”

Lords of Exile release date set for February, new trailer

PID Games publishing label and co-publisher PixelHeart, along with Squidbit Works, today set a release date for Lords of Exile. The 8-bit side-scrolling action platformer heads to Switch on February 14, 2024.
Lords of Exile was secured in 2020 following a Kickstarter campaign. It was initially targeted for a 2021 debut.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom developer sessions happening at GDC 2024

It’s been announced that during the 2024 Game Developers Conference, developers behind Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be presenting talks.
The Zelda session is entitled “Tunes of the Kingdom: Evolving Physics and Sounds for ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’”. Technical director Takuhiro Dohta, lead physics programmer Takahiro Takayama, and lead sound engineer Junya Osada will “explore challenges their teams faced when approaching the popular sequel” and “will share insights on Link’s new abilities, composing Hyrule’s expanded sound design and music, and how these go hand-in-(Ultra)hand to create a new experience for players.”
