SkyScrappers

Ground Shatter and Ant Workshop are bringing SkyScrappers to Switch, the two companies announced today. A release is planned for October 29.

SkyScrappers is described as “a retro-inspired vertically scrolling platform fighting game” in which “players scrap and scale their way to the top of a falling skyscraper – as it crumbles around them – in the ultimate thrill-seekers, daredevil race”. Find more details and a trailer below.

Game Dev Story

Kairosoft brought a trio of games to Switch a few days ago, including Game Dev Story. Get a look at over an hour of footage below.

It’s time for the latest Famitsu’s most wanted games chart. There’s a shakeup this week with Persona Q2 overthrowing Smash Bros. Ultimate as the top Nintendo title.

Head past the break for the full chart. All votes were cast between September 27 and October 3.

Update: Bumped to the top. Amazon now has pre-orders here. It’s $100, meaning you’re basically getting the Joy-Con controllers for $40 as Super Mario Party is $60.

Original: Super Mario Party Joy-Con bundles have been announced for Europe and Japan. Included in the European bundle – due out on November 23 – are neon green and neon pink controllers. Then on December 1, Japan will have its own bundle with neon yellow and neon pink Joy-Con controllers.

Nintendo hasn’t announced anything for North America, but that could be changing soon. Amazon US is listing another Super Mario Party bundle that will come with neon green and neon yellow controllers. For whatever reason, Nintendo seems to be mixing up the controller variations in every region.

Amazon lists the North American Super Mario Party bundle for a November 16 release. Pre-orders aren’t up yet, though when live, they’ll be here.

LUNAXXX is a Switch game that could be easy to forget about. It had a low-key reveal at BitSummit last May, but is worth keeping an eye on since original Chibi-Robo director Kenichi Nishi is involved.

What we saw last year was more of a prototype. The game returned to the Tokyo Game Show a couple of weeks ago in a more complete form, and Pygmy Studio provided a proper update on its status.

Nintendo has posted another update to the Smash Bros. Blog for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This time around, we have an introduction to Shulk.

Here’s the overview:

Super Mario Party debuted in Japan last week. Between October 1 and October 5, it sold close to 150,000 copies. Compared to the last core entry in the franchise, it was a significant improvement. Mario Party 10 sold just 52,000 units in its first week.

As Media Create notes, the Mario Party games tend to be longtime best-sellers due to the nature of the series, and Mario Party 10 eventually reached around 250,000 sales – five times what it sold in its first week. Demand is expected to increase around the holiday season due to Christmas and New Year’s parties.

As one final note, Dengeki states that Super Mario Party sold through 50% of its initial shipment.

The North American eShop has updated with an eShop page for Pizza Titan Ultra, revealing the game’s release date. We can expect to see it on October 19.

Pizza Titan Ultra is a third-person action platformer. Find some additional details and a trailer below.

Zen Studios published brand new DLC for Pinball FX3 just a few days ago. For the first time, Bally/Williams pinball tables were offered to players. Medieval Madness, Fish Tales, Junk Yard, and The Getaway have been recreated digitally, but with some alterations.

Ars Technica reports that the new tables have “many modifications to the original playfield, backglass, and side table art.” There are other changes as well to cover up scantily clad women, remove blood from swords, replace beer cans with soda, and take away cigars from characters smoking.
