[Let’s Talk] Thoughts on Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Metroid Prime: Federation Force might be one of Nintendo’s most controversial games in recent years. The reception has been very mixed – leaning more towards the negative side – since its reveal in 2015, and the conversations haven’t slowed down since then. But on Friday, the game finally launched and everyone has a chance to play it for themselves.
We thought Metroid Prime: Federation Force was alright, as you can read in our review. It’s definitely not one of the worst titles on 3DS, but we feel it’s not towards the top of what the system has to offer as well. The critical reception has also been mixed. Some outlets feel strongly that Federation Force is a great release while others haven’t felt nearly the same. Given how things have gone for the game, I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised by the critical reaction.

Nintendo made an announcement a couple of weeks ago that not many saw coming. In November, the company will be bringing back the NES. Nintendo is readying a mini version of its classic console as a plug-and-play device under the name “Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition”.
The NES Classic Edition will cost $60, but you’re getting quite a lot for that price. 30 games are included in the box, meaning its $2 for each one. There are some absolute classics in there such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and much more.
How’s everyone feeling about the NES Classic Edition? Will you be picking up one come November? Would you be interested in seeing Nintendo adopt the same idea for some other older systems? Tell us your thoughts below!

Pokemon GO has been out in United States, Australia, and New Zealand for over a week. The UK’s release took place a few days ago, and 26 new countries just joined in on the fun today. Now that Pokemon GO is available in a bunch of territories, now’s a good as time as ever to talk about it.
Obviously Pokemon GO a massively hot topic right now. It’s definitely invaded the mainstream, and we’re even seeing it covered by notable news outlets.

Just a week ago we were talking about what we wanted from Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Nintendo as a whole at this year’s E3. And now… it’s over! With everything so fresh, it’s a good time to talk about it all.
There’s no question that Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the highlight at E3. Nintendo kicked off the show with a trailer, followed by hours of coverage on the Treehouse stream. The game was a very hot commodity at E3. Even though Nintendo’s entire booth was dedicated to Breath of the Wild, that wasn’t enough to prevent massive lines.
Aside from Breath of the Wild, there was quite a bit more to Nintendo’s E3 than we would have thought a few weeks ago. A brand new 3DS action-RPG, Ever Oasis, was announced. We also heard about new amiibo, Mario Party: Star Rush, BoxBoxBoy! in the west, and Rhythm Heaven Megamix even had a stealth launch on the North American 3DS eShop. There were also release dates and coverage of games like Paper Mario: Color Splash and Dragon Quest VII.

It’s been a strange couple of months as Nintendo shared its plans for E3 2016. We quickly learned that there would be absolutely no NX news, nor a Nintendo Direct / Digital Event. Zelda Wii U is going to be playable, but it’ll be the only game at the show. Nintendo did say recently that its two-day Treehouse stream will feature Pokemon Sun/Moon, Pokemon GO, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Monster Hunter Generations, and Dragon Quest VII in addition to Zelda.
Going into E3, how’s everyone feeling about things? Are you excited to finally get a good look at the new Zelda game? Are you bummed about the company’s approach to the expo this year? One year ago, Splatoon launched around the world. Having sold over four million copies, it’s one of the most successful Wii U games, making it an impressive debut for a new IP.
Splatoon underwent an amazing transformation since its initial reveal at E3 2014. There were gamers who were on board with the concept to start out with, but there was definitely some skepticism surrounding the title. That started to fade away closer to release as Nintendo shared more information. You could even argue that post-launch helped since new features, maps, and weapons were added in addition to fairly regular Splatfests.
Now that Splatoon is celebrating its one year anniversary, how do you feel about the game? Has your opinion changed at all since the original announcement/after launch? Let us know in the comments below!

One of the bigger news stories from the past week came from Tatsumi Kimishima’s new interview with Asahi. While talking with the publication, Kimishima revealed some pretty big plans for the company’s pursuit of movies. Nintendo is really looking to get into this entertainment field and hopes to produce something within the next few years.
Aside from that, there’s not too much to go on. Kimishima did indicate that Nintendo is more interested in animation than live-action at this point. He also suggested that they could work with partners.
So what’s everyone’s pipe dream when it comes to Nintendo films? Is there one particular franchise above all others that you want to see become a movie? Do you have any specific Nintendo film ideas? Let us know how you feel in the comments below!

Short site update I want to sneak in here: we still have a comic coming this weekend, and it should be up tomorrow. Don’s been very busy, but he’s working extremely hard. We appreciate your patience!
It took a few months, but we finally saw the first gameplay trailer for Pokemon Sun/Moon this week. The world was shown, the mascots and boxarts were unveiled, a release date was announced, and… we have a first look at the new starter Pokemon! They are Rowlen, Litten, and Popplio.
What’s everyone making of Pokemon Sun/Moon thus far? Have you already decided on the starter you’ll be going with? Since we’ve seen the legendaries, do you have a better idea about which version you’ll be buying (or both)? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
