The latest episode of Nintendo’s Japanese show Nyannyan Neko Mario Time has now gone live. We’ve included it below.

Nintendo has announced the 2017 Summer of Play tour for its fanbase in the United States. Various activities are being planned for these events.

Along with playable games, attendees will be able to try out the New 2DS XL. There will also be various activities such as a photo opportunity “in front of the colorful visuals full of recognizable Nintendo characters like Mario and the Inklings from the Splatoon series”. Those who pre-order select games at participating GameStop locations near the tour stops will receive a Nintendo branded PopSocket mobile accessory device while supplies last. Also, My Nintendo members who check in with their QR Code will be given a free gift item while supplies last.

Below is the lineup of playable Switch games:

Earlier today, brand new images emerged showing map sketches from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. These were shown by Hirokazu Yasuhara, who worked on the game as a planner.

You can see the images for yourself below. One map is particularly noteworthy, as it shows the cut Genocide City level which never made it into the final game.

Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 will be hosted on June 13. With the video presentation, we’ll be given a look at Super Mario Odyssey and other upcoming Switch games.

You can set a reminder for the Nintendo Spotlight by adding the event to your calendar through the official website. When doing so, Nintendo fills in an hour-long slot. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the presentation will last an hour since calendars tend to work with 30-minute increments. You can at least expect it to be 30 minutes long.

For reference, Nintendo’s E3 2015 presentation was just over 48 minutes. The 2014 edition was about 47 minutes.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, takes on a completely new name. In an interview with The Verge, director Kenta Nakanishi explained the change.

Nakanishi told the site:

“Because it wasn’t released outside of Japan, and gaiden means side story, people would think ‘What is the side story for?’ So we thought we’d come up with a new title.”

Nakanishi also commented on the Fire Emblem game he would remake if he had to choose. His selection? Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, a Japan-exclusive GBA title. Nakanishi said that Roy’s story “has never been told, so it would be great if we could release a remake of his story.”

Japanese Twitter user kentarock1020 has a son named Hibiki who, very sadly, is completely blind. He’s lacked the ability to see since the age of two due to the rare cancer form retinoblastoma. That naturally makes it difficult to play most video games. However, there’s one Nintendo series he’s managed to not only play, but also excel at.

With the help of his father, Hibiki wrote a letter to Nintendo thanking the company and asking for more Rhythm Heaven (Rhythm Tengoku in Japan) games in the future. The full message is below:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Another piece of significant information has been reported stemming from the April 2017 NPD report. According to Mat Piscatella, an analyst for the company, Mario Kart is the all-time best-selling racing franchise in the U.S.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the best-selling game in the U.S. last month despite being on the market for just two days. In that short period, over 460,000 physical units sold. With digital sales included, the total exceeds 550,000 units.
