3DS

Wii U added pre-loading functionality several months ago. Now, however, the same feature has been extended to 3DS.

3DS owners in Japan can begin pre-loading Code Name S.T.E.A.M. onto their system. You can buy the game and be prepared to play it once it launches on May 15.

Atlus’ latest trailer for Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker shows off the game’s Demon Auctions. Watch the video above, and check out an overview of the feature below.

If you haven’t put two and two together yet, Macca is the demonic currency in SMT: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, and a vital resource for becoming the high bidder in Demon Auctions. The entire concept of being able to pick up deadly monsters from eBay-style auctions may terrify you, but trust me, you’ll be doing it a lot. See, unlike SMTIV or Persona Q, the only way to get new demons is by buying them or fusing them. And you can only fuse so many before you run out. But no problem, just crack open the demon auction app and get yourself a whole new complement of demons!

Each demon will come with ratings – the more stars the better stats and skills it comes with, meaning a strong ally for immediate use, or eventual fusion fodder down the road. There’s also special auctions for exceptional demons, but make sure that you have enough Macca on hand so you don’t get outbid by that jerk Carol J (or any other bidders).

Rodea: The Sky Soldier has received an overseas release date. Today, NIS America announced that the title is slated for September 22 in North America, and September 25 in Europe.

All first print copies of Rodea: The Sky Soldier for Wii U will come with the Wii version. That’s the original game created by Yuji Naka.

During the latest Fragments of Silicon podcast, Natsume’s director of operations Graham Markay explained why the company passed on localizations of the recent Medabots games. He explained:

[…] not every game that’s made in a particular territory, such as Japan, is always made with a worldwide release in mind. Another thing to consider is that we’d have to use Rocket Company’s engineers and programmers in regards to localizing a game. Even if we were to translate it, they’d have to be available. We reached out to them and told them we wanted to do more. We had a great time back in the day on the GBA releasing those four Medabots games, and on the Gamecube. Unfortunately, the stars have not yet aligned. Hopefully there’s a game that they have time to partner with us on.

[…] I would’ve loved to have brought [Medarot 7 and Medarot 8] over to the US. It just doesn’t seem like the right timing now. Then that begs the question of when would be the right timing. Maybe when their team frees up, but then when’s that going to be? When we’re free, they’re free, is it still going to be viable for the 3DS market at the time? We haven’t given up. It’s not like they reached out and said, “Hey, we need A, B, and C to make this happen.” We both looked at our calendars and unfortunately they were involved with something and weren’t available at the time.

Markay also revealed that Natsume’s GBA Virtual Console games will begin arriving on the Wii U eShop starting in June. This includes the Medabots titles AX and An RPG Adventure.
