Nintendo reconfirms that there is no minimum sales requirement before eShop developers receive revenue
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 3 Comments
Back in the WiiWare days, Nintendo implemented a sales threshold. Games needed to sell a certain amount of copies before developers/publishers received any compensation.
Thankfully, that policy is long gone. The eShop does not have a minimum threshold of any kind, Nintendo’s Ed Valiente reconfirmed at the Italian Game Developers Summit today.
He said:
“So we have no minimum threshold. You earn from the first sale you make.”
Valiente also offered the following insight when asked if Nintendo enforces certain price tiers on developers:
“We let developers set the price and release date. So no, there are no thresholds, no limited price – although people still ask us what we think they should sell their game for. My answer is: go on to the eShop, see what other games are selling for, see where your game fits in and set your price accordingly. My one advice would be don’t go too low at the beginning. Because if you go too low at the beginning, you don’t have any room to manoeuvre. Games should be worth something. Out of all the games I play on smart devices, I prefer ones I can pay for – and sometimes I wish I could pay more than 99 cents.”

[Review] Ninja Battle Heroes (3DS)
Posted on 10 years ago by Vincent Ward in 3DS eShop, Features, Reviews | 2 Comments
System: Nintendo 3DS
Release Date: October 9th, 2014
Developer: Tom Create
Publisher: Tom Create
Author: Vincent W.
If someone were to write a book on terrible game design, I feel as if Ninja Battle Heroes would be one of the main examples. Aside from its terribly uncreative title, this 3DS eShop game looks pretty appealing on the surface. Boasting a heavily Japanese-inspired universe along with a unique platforming experience, Ninja Battle Heroes seems like it could provide a small but desperately needed breath of fresh air to a genre that’s been long in need of one. Once inside, however, you’ll find a game that takes all of its interesting ideas and executes them poorly.

European release dates from the eShop – Shovel Knight, Disney Infinity 2.0 digital, Picross e5
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Update: Here’s what Yacht Club says about the eShop listing:
@JeGeekJePlay Seeing that release date is a surprise to us honestly! Possibly a mix up?
— Yacht Club Games (@YachtClubGames) October 22, 2014
@JeGeekJePlay The Wii U and 3DS versions should be released on the same day! Though we're still waiting to find out when that is exactly.
— Yacht Club Games (@YachtClubGames) October 22, 2014
The European Wii U eShop has apparently dated several games for Europe.
First up, Shovel Knight will apparently launch on November 6 for €14.99. Yacht Club Games previously confirmed that the game would be launching in Europe and Australia next month, but a specific date wasn’t shared.
Also due out on November 6 is the eShop version of Disney Infinity 2.0. Wii U owners will be able to purchase the title for €29.99.
Last but not least, Picross e5 is slated for November 11 (with a €5.00 price point).
Note that while these dates are likely accurate, they have not been officially announced.
