3DS

Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon have been setting all sorts of records, including in France. The two games saw the best launch week ever for a Nintendo-published game in the country. Over 425,000 copies were sold.

Pokemon Sun/Moon outperformed both X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Pokemon X/Y sold 125,000 copies in its first week while the 3DS remakes moved 180,000 units during the same period.

Last night, Yacht Club Games finally showed a trailer for Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment at The Game Awards. The studio shared a bit more on the expansion in a blog post shortly afterwards.

Perhaps what’s most interesting here is that the team is making Specter of Torment “from the ground up so that it can be a completely unique standalone experience.” It’s a prequel, featuring “new areas, new music, new enemies, new objects, new boss fights, new weapons, new armors, and way, way more than ever before.” It really does sound like its own thing in many ways.

Here’s the full update from Yacht Club:

The latest episode of Game Center DX, the Game Center CX spin-off show, has been released, and it focuses on Pokemon Sun & Moon. Check it out:

While Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS didn’t get quite as much praise as the Wii U version, it was still received well enough for Nintendo to put together an accolades trailer. Give it a watch:

Media Create reported that Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon sold 375,665 copies in Japan between November 21 and November 28. We now have additional information from the sales tracker, revealing that the split was 197,000 for Sun and 179,000 for Moon.

That means each version is reduced to about a fourth of their first week sales. Pokemon X (second week of 240,000 copies) and Pokemon Y (233,000 copies) also saw about the same reduction rate. By counting the two games from the Double Pack, Sun and Moon’s total sales as of the second week are 2,281,000 copies, which goes down slightly if compared to X/Y’s two-week total of 2,340,000 units.

The lastest round of Monster Hunter Generations’ free DLC is now available to download. The December update features Street Figther outfits for Felynes, a new armor set designed by Tetsuya Nomura, and more. You can view a gallery of some of the rewards below, and a full list of the quests and rewards after the break.

Yesterday we noted that Super Mario Maker for 3DS’s first update, version 1.01, was on the eShop. Strangely, Nintendo already has another update available. Version 1.02 has now replaced the previous patch on the eShop.

The size is exactly the same at 158 blocks (19.75 MB). Also, once again, the update is needed in order to access the Course World and its online features.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Yacht Club Games debuted a brand new trailer for the Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment expansion during The Game Awards 2016. We’ve posted it below.

The Game Awards 2016 will be beginning soon. If you’d like to watch the show as it happens, we have a handy stream link below.

To clarify what’s happening: the pre-show is taking place a half hour early at 5:30 PM PT / 8:30 PM ET / 1:30 AM in the UK / 2:30 AM in Europe. You won’t want to miss it, as Nintendo will be showing an “exclusive look” at Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and we’ll be seeing something from Yacht Club Games. More on Zelda is supposedly coming during the show itself, and winners for the awards will be selected. It should be a fun night!
