Pokemon GO Fest 2018 Safari Zone

Ninatic is bringing back two of its summer events for Pokemon GO as part of the Pokemon GO Summer Tour 2018. Along with Pokemon GO Fest for North America, Safari Zone events will be running in Europe.

After a disastrous inaugural event in 2017, Pokemon GO Fest will be giving things another go. This year’s event will again be held in Chicago between July 14 and July 15. Niantic promises that A Walk in the Park ” will offer a unique, immersive play experience unseen anywhere else that will create a daylong adventure for Trainers.” Exclusive activities are planned.

As for the Safari Zone event, it’ll be held in Dortmund, Germany between June 30 and July 1. According to Niantic, “Activities will expand to Dortmund’s entire city district, inviting players from all over Europe to explore the city’s cultural history”.

In the last couple of days, the official (Japanese) Fire Emblem Heroes Twitter account ran a quiz campaign. They posed questions about the game and people could use Twitter’s poll feature to answer them. There were a total of 20 questions and all of them have been answered correctly. As a reward, ten orbs and 5,000 hero feathers will be sent out to all players on May 10th.

Some new quests are up on Fire Emblem Heroes that let you earn some 3 star heroes including Adult Tiki, Gaius and Gunter. You are also able to earn 6 orbs.

A new summoning focus is now available in Fire Emblem Heroes. The 5-star focus units are Heroes with weapon skills that allow them to counter attacks from any range: Dorcas: Serene Warrior, Nowi: Eternal Youth and Ryoma: Peerless Samurai. The summoning focus will be available until May 15th.

The newest garden event is now live in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. You can complete Katie’s quests and receive presents from her. You’ll be collecting apple butterflies to help her out. You can purchase the Fruit Party Pack to help you on your quest, which is 70 leaf tickets and 50 flower food. The second part of the event starts May 9th, and the entire event closes the 14th.

Fire Emblem Heroes recently kicked off a Kana: Dragon Spawn Grand Hero Battle as well as a new Grand Conquest event this week. Get a look at some footage of both below.

The Grand Hero Battle featuring Kana: Dragon Spawn is now live in Fire Emblem Heroes. As usual, you can obtain a 3 star version, a 4 star version and a 4 star version with Hero Feather of Arvis if you can beat the map on Hard, Lunatic, or Infernal difficulty.

The Grand Hero Battle featuring Kana: Dragon Spawn will be available until May 11th.

Nintendo x DeNA

Nintendo only released one new mobile game during the last fiscal year. But during the company’s latest financial results briefing, president Tatsumi Kimishima said that the original plan has not changed.

According to Kimishima, Nintendo is still targeting 2-3 mobile games per year. “What we want is to release applications for smart devices that can be played for a long time, and if we can increase those kinds of titles, then we will build a lineup of titles that consumers will truly enjoy,” Kimishima said.

Kimishima also said that there aren’t any plans for Nintendo, Cygames, and DeNA to all directly collaborate on new mobile titles. However, there is sort of a three-company collaboration based on Cygames and DeNA’s different roles.

With past mobile apps, Nintendo has taken the lead on development. The likes of Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp have been handled by its own internal teams while DeNA has handled the back end.

With Dragalia Lost, which has come out of a new partnership with Cygames, the approach has been a bit different. Cygames designed it initially, and Nintendo “got involved at the planning stage and are now developing the game together.”

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima reiterated the company’s thinking when it comes to mobile apps during the Q&A portion of the company’s financial results briefing last week.

Kimishima highlighted two points. By releasing mobile apps, Nintendo wants more people to be exposed to its IP, and have them “achieve a synergistic effect” with its dedicated gaming platforms. The other goal is for mobile to be a pillar of revenue.
