Switch eShop

Infinite Minigolf was originally planned for spring. We’re passed that point, but it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer for Zen Studios’ first Switch game.

According to a European eShop listing, Infinite Minigolf is scheduled for July 24. We would anticipate it launching around the same time in North America, assuming the eShop page is accurate.

Here’s a look at the Infinite Minigolf trailer from May:

Qbics Paint, first made known at the end of May, could have a release date. Nintendo’s website lists the game for July 27 on the Switch eShop. It will cost $4.99.

Note that this date is not 100% final. Abylight may make the release date official within the next week or so.

In the meantime, here’s everything you need to know about Qbics Paint:

The European Switch eShop now has a listing up for Phantom Trigger. If what’s mentioned is correct, the game will be releasing on July 27. Pricing will be set at €14.99 / £13.49.

Here’s an overview:

Stan is losing control. The phantom realm brings arcade hexes into a pulsing neon reality, where demons fight in packs and use every trick they have to break your defense. Throw spells and traps mid-combo, ride the edge of control and chaos in this fresh take on action combat. You are your own worst enemy in Phantom Trigger.

tinyBuild shared a video last night showing Phantom Trigger running on Switch. You can find that right here.

Springloaded has unveiled Ultra Hyperball, the studio’s first title for Switch. The “frantic party game” will offer various modes, including a single-player story mode and multiplayer with up to four people. Touch controls and motion controls will be supported.

Ultra Hyperball doesn’t have a release date, but it’s coming soon. You can watch a trailer for the game below.

Thimbleweed Park was announced for Switch last week. It’s a new point-and-click adventure game from Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, two of the developers known for classics like The Secret of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion.

For now, Thimbleweed Park doesn’t have a specific release date on Switch. However, Terrible Toybox told Eurogamer that it’s “coming soon”.

A representative passed along the following note to the site:

“We’re waiting to announce a timeframe for Switch until we can be sure, so for right now it’s just ‘coming soon’. It’s in active development (as you can tell from Ron’s video!) so hopefully won’t be too long of a wait.”

WWE 2K18

NBA 2K18 won’t be the only game from 2K Sports on Switch this year. A few days ago, the publisher confirmed plans to bring WWE 2K18 to the platform.

Originally, 2K Sports said that the game would be available on October 17 alongside other systems. But unfortunately, a new “Fall 2017” release window has been given. If there is a delay, hopefully WWE will follow on Switch soon after the initial launch.

Wargroove, the turn-based strategy game planned for Switch, will let players choose from one of over twelve commanders from four warring factions. This week, we’re able to learn about another one of the commanders: Valder. Everything you need to know about Valder can be found from developer Chucklefish below.

In the bitterly cold mountains to the south there lies a nation of shambling corpses and assorted undead fiends. Travellers hope only to avoid meeting them on the open road, whilst would-be heroes and naive soldiers are eager to meet them in battle. They are the Felheim Legion, and they are governed by the necromancer Valder.

Control over the vast masses of the undead falls to whoever wields the Fell Gauntlet, and Valder secured it at a young age. A master in the necromantic arts, Valder even created the commander Ragna from the remains of countless skilled warriors, so that he can designate military matters to her. To him, the bloodthirsty hordes of skeleton soldiers are like his children, even if they tend to lack proper etiquette (and some brains).

If called to battle, Valder strikes using the powerful magic within the Fell Gauntlet to wipe out his opponents with a single hand.

He might not fear death, but his enemies would do well to fear him…

One of the new elements in Runner3 are “Puppet Shows”. In a blog post this week, Choice Provisions explained what these are all about.

Here’s the rundown:

If you A) complete a world in Runner3 and B) collect the required items scattered all throughout, you’ll be treated to a Puppet Show. You don’t have to watch it, but doing so will provide you with a little more backstory for the game. For example, those who watch the Puppet Show for Spookyland will learn what life was like in that world before The Parliament of Owls arrived (spoiler: it was a lot better).

Oh, and all of the Puppet Shows will be narrated by Charles Martinet. It was our hope all along to have more Martinet in this game, and this is just one example of how we’ve managed to pull that off!

We also have a look at one of the puppets:
