Wii U eShop

Engine Software is bringing SMART Adventures Mission Math to the North American and European Wii U eShop next week. It will be available starting February 25th for $2.99 / €2.99.

Here’s an overview:

The game takes place on Space Station Prime, where recently promoted S.M.A.R.T. Agent Delta has docked to find total chaos. The computers are down, the science labs are a mess, and the communication system is barely functioning – is foul play involved? Playing as Agent Delta’s assistant, Junior Agent Star, players use their math skills to repair the science labs and solve the mystery. Math practice has never been this much fun!

Mission: MATH features an exciting story line, a fully customizable player avatar, science labs to explore (and repair!), and handy tutorials for each laboratory. The story line features a wide range of supporting characters with fully spoken dialog. The labs themselves are fun puzzles that will challenge the players’ math skills in fractions, decimals, bar graphs, factors, multiples, and more, all in a playful and pressure-free environment that kids will love. Parents will appreciate that it’s safe and secure for kids to enjoy without supervision.

The Wii U version of Hyper Light Drifter is “currently in limbo,” according to Heart Machine. Today’s update was shared as part of a new post over on Kickstarter.

During Hyper Light Drifter’s early days, Heart Machine “had information about our engine”. The team was hoping this would result in a relatively simply port to Nintendo’s console. But now, Heart Machine says Hyper Light Drifter is in jeopardy of missing out on Wii U due to “ongoing internal contractual issues beyond our control between the platform holder and engine developer”.

You can read Heart Machine’s full update from the Kickstarter post below.

Three more Virtual Console games are making their way to Wii U in North America this week. Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom, and Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones are all due out tomorrow.

All three Virtual Console releases are priced at $4.99 each. Brief overviews are posted below.

Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos

“The Emperor of Darkness, Ashtar, is on the move following his servant’s failure. It’s up to Ryu Hayabusa to save the day again! Pick up items that will provide increased abilities, like splitting Ryu into three. Destroy enemies with the Invincible Fire Wheel and other powerful ninjutsu techniques.”

Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom

“Join master ninja Ryu Hayabusa, last member of the famous Dragon Clan, in the third and final chapter of the legendary Ninja Gaiden saga. Ryu is framed for FBI agent Irene Lew’s murder, and it’s up to him to clear his name. Defeating superior life-forms created out of “”life energy” called BIO-NOIDs and avoiding enemy ambushes are among the many obstacles which Ryu faces in this unpredictable adventure of mystery, deceit, and destruction. Ryu’s techniques have improved from last time—his ability to grab on to horizontal surfaces, his reduced falling speed and altered jumping maneuvers, as well as using power-ups give Ryu that extra advantage against his foes. Help Ryu defeat the forces of evil once more and discover the real culprit behind Irene’s death as one of the most loved trilogies in video-game history comes to a close!”

Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones

“Join the Lee brothers as they head on a worldwide search for their friend Marion and the powerful Sacred Stones. Defeat your enemies using a collection of martial-art moves, including those of enemies that join your quest. Play solo or together with another player as you finally reach the evil mastermind behind Marion’s kidnapping.”

Last week, Runbow received a new 1.1.0 patch. The update mainly fixes issues with online gameplay and external hard drives, but “a little secret” has also been added to the game mode selection screen. It sounds like the game could be getting more content based on 13AM Games’ tease.

Head past the break for the full breakdown and patch notes.

We already shared some footage of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, which launched in Europe last week as a Virtual Console game for Wii U. A video of the Blue Rescue Team version is below.

Yoshi’s Story just arrived on the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console a couple of hours ago. Check out some gameplay below.

U Host was announced for Wii U back in 2014. Bear Box Media has continued to work on the game since then, as the trailer below shows. We should be seeing U Host on the eShop sometime in March.
