Mekazoo’s local co-op multiplayer debuting at PAX Prime

Good Mood Creators announced a new mode for its 2D platformer Mekazoo today. The game will feature local cooperative multiplayer, the studio has revealed. This mode will debut at PAX Prime 2015.
Here’s how it works:
In Mekazoo, the stylish mekanimals challenge levels in pairs as a tag team, seamlessly switching between each other at the touch of a button. In cooperative multiplayer, each player controls a single mekanimal, the inactive player controlling only the “switch” button to transform to their animal, creating dynamic moments of teamwork and cooperation.
Overcoming certain obstacles requires the ability specific to one character in the duo, so in order to advance through each level players must alternate between the two characters. Oftentimes players will need to quickly switch back and forth between both mekanimals to progress, making proper timing essential when tagging characters in and out.
There are a total of five mekanimals in Mekazoo: the armadillo, frog, wallaby, panda, and high-flying pelican.
Mekazoo will be available on Wii U in Q1 2016. View some screenshots below.

Dreii hitting the Wii U eShop this fall
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Etter Studio and Bitforge are releasing Dreii on a number of platforms this fall, including Wii U.
At its core, Dreii is a puzzle title. Players become “secretly connected” to others experiencing the game, and must work together to create a tower.
Dreii works across all devices. That means, technically, a Wii U owner could end up playing with a PlayStation 4 user.
Take a look at some screenshots from Dreii below.

Woah Dave! is a success, Space Dave! in the works
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 2 Comments
Woah Dave! came to the 3DS eShop last year (and there are also plans to bring it to Wii U). Developer Jason Cirillo spoke with Destructoid about the game’s success, which came as a slight surprise.
He told the site:
“…despite the fact that we felt very strongly that we had created a truly fun game, I think even we were a bit surprised at how well it did.”
“I think the surprise came in that we knew we’d made a very simple game that would appeal mostly to more mature gamers who grew up with score-chasing arcade games in the 80s, but what we didn’t expect was the general enthusiasm we got from all crowds on all platforms. It was a very big success for MiniVisions both critically and financially.”
MiniVisions is building on the success of Woah Dave! with the studio’s next project, Space Dave!, which will be revealed at PAX Prime in August.
“…Space Dave! would most likely still have happened even if Woah Dave! hadn’t done well. The reason being is that MiniVisions games are largely driven, in all honesty, by us making games that we want to play ourselves. They’re all kinds of experimental.”
“We’re never sure if everyone else will be as in to these ideas as we are, but the passion on our end to make it is there, so we kinda roll with that. Also, probably worth nothing that Space Dave! is a surprisingly different formula, but still 100% a ‘Dave’ game.”
We don’t know which platforms Space Dave! will be on, but 3DS and Wii U seem like pretty safe bets. Information about the project should be shared very soon.

Black Forest Games came up with the idea for the Epic Indie Sale
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
The Epic Indie Sale just wrapped up on the Wii U eShop. As a bit of insight, that promotion resulted from an idea created by Black Forest Games.
KnapNok Games and Frozenbyte say that the Epic Indie Sale was a success. Both studios are open to a similar idea in the future, but Black Forest Games may need to be the company to put things in motion again.
KnapNok’s Anchel Labena and Frozenbyte’s Kai Tuovinen told NordicGameBits:
“It would be fun to take part in a similar promotion in the future for sure, but I’m not sure we’d be the ones to “run the show” so to say. Black Forest Games handled that really well, so a big thanks to them and everyone else taking part in the sale!” – Tuovinen says
“We’re always open for partnerships with other studios, whether it is for releasing the next game or having a special event like a sale together. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise if we announce a new collaboration in the future.” – Labena
