Wii U

A listing on Amazon UK has been discovered for the “Metal Mario 30th Anniversary Controller”. This can be used for both the Wii U and Wii.

Like the PDP Wired Fight Pads, this new Nintendo-licensed controller plugins into the Wii Remote. It works with games that support the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro along with most Virtual Console titles.

Amazon UK lists a tentative October 30 release date for the Metal Mario 30th Anniversary Controller. There’s a £20.70 price as well.

Those who had hoped to obtain a copy of the Splatoon Special Edition from UK retailer GAME may be out of luck. In an email sent to customers today, the retailer said that a lorry transporting stock of the Splatoon Special Edition has been stolen.

GAME is unable to fulfill orders due to these recent events. Consumers are being offered standard versions of Splatoon along with with a £10 discount. Alternatively, gamers can cancel their orders.

In a statement provided to MCV, Nintendo said:

“We can confirm that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to GAME UK has been stolen. Included as part of this delivery was GAME’s allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling amiibo and as a result we are unable to honour pre-orders for this item in GAME. We are working with GAME to contact those customers affected. Whilst these unfortunate circumstances were out of Nintendo UK and GAME’s control, we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this has caused.”

Nintendo added that it will be sending out the replacement game via first class post to ensure stock reaches gamers.

Earlier this week, Slightly Mad Studios made a few comments indicating that the Wii U version of Project CARS is in serious jeopardy. To put things simply, the team is experiencing issues getting its game running on Nintendo’s hardware at an acceptable frame rate, and serious sacrifices may need to be made. Slightly Mad Studios’ Ian Bell also indicated that moving the Wii U version to a future Nintendo console may make more sense.

Bell has now followed up on his earlier comments with a new statement. Slightly Mad Studios hasn’t entirely given up on the possibility of a Wii U version, but if the team can’t make it work, it’ll be moved to “the next Nintendo machine.”

Here’s Bell’s statement in full:

Here is yet another bit of torture from Nintendo in the form of a single player commercial for Splatoon. I think it is safe to say that this title will be fun by yourself or with others!
