Mario Kart World Direct live stream

The Mario Kart World Direct is almost here, and for those looking to tune in, we’ve got a dedicated post for the live stream. Look for the broadcast to kick off at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM in the UK / 3 PM in Europe. The event will be about 15 minutes long.

We were given a pretty good look at the game during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and Treehouse: Live just a couple of weeks ago, but Nintendo clearly has more to say. If there’s anything significant, we’ll pass it along on the main site. Nintendo should also provide us with an official recap announcement after the event which we’ll share as well.

Mario Kart World Direct

April 2: A Mario Kart World Direct is on the way, Nintendo has announced. The presentation will take place on April 17 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM in the UK / 3 PM in Europe.

Mario Kart World was fully revealed today, but it’ll have its own dedicated presentation later in the month. Fans looking for more information about it will want to tune in.

April 2: The recently-released Split Fiction has been confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2. It will be available at launch.

Split Fiction, a co-op adventure game, just debuted not too long ago to a strong reception. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will take advantage of GameShare and GameChat. With GameShare, you can play locally with just one copy of the game with another player on their Nintendo Switch 2, even if they don’t own the title. GameChat will let players share live video and voice chat from their console system while playing Split Fiction together.

Puzkin Magnetic Odyssey

Today, Tokkun Studio unveiled its new project Puzkin: Magnetic Odyssey. The game is targeting release on both Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.

Puzkin is a cross-platform sandbox MMORPG “designed from the ground up to be the safest and most creative online world for families”. The game features a unique battle system, creation and construction, exploration with quests, the ability to create shops, and more.

Nintendo Switch 2 tariff 145 percent

Nikkei issued a report today indicating that Nintendo Switch 2 is set to face a 145 percent tariff hit with most production taking place in China.

There’s been a lot of discussion as of late over the console’s price and how much Nintendo would be impacted. It’s true that various tech products will be exempt – at least for now – from tariffs initiated by President Trump. However, that does not seem to apply to gaming consoles. Nikkei Asia says it has seen “an internal assessment memo by a major Apple and Nintendo supplier” which indicates that the 145 percent tariff affecting goods made in China is still in place.

Breath of the Wild Tears of the Kingdom equipment repairs Zelda Notes

New information has come to light that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom will support weapon repairs, which is done through the upcoming Zelda Notes portion of the Nintendo Switch app.

The durability system in Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom was one of the more controversial aspects of the games. Over time, equipment would break with use. If you had a certain weapon you really liked, once you whacked enemies enough times with it, generally it’d break and you’d lose it.

Nintendo Switch 2 GameChat report feature

According to Nintendo, its new GameChat functionality for Switch 2 will include a report feature.

GameChat is one of the big things being highlighted for the upcoming console. Up to twelve people chat while playing titles on the system, and on top of that, screen sharing is possible.

During last week’s Nintendo Direct, EA announced Madden NFL and FC for Switch 2. That means the big sports franchises will be appearing at some point, though we’re not quite sure as to what’s planned at the moment.

Commenting on its recent Nintendo Switch 2 announcements, EA said:

Switch 2 Nintendo Switch Online app

Thanks to the official Japanese website, first images for the Nintendo Switch Online app for Switch 2 are now available. This can be accessed directly on the home menu.

If you’ve booted up the app at all on the Big N’s current console, the overall design should look pretty familiar. The initial screen has different banners highlighting ongoing activities, promotions, and more. There also sections for things like Nintendo Classics and cloud saves.

Switch Online Gamecube Predictions

Today, we’re going over a bunch of popular GameCube games and how likely they are to come to Nintendo Switch Online on Nintendo Switch 2.

In somewhat of a surprise move, Nintendo recently announced that titles from that console are coming to Switch Online + Expansion Pack members exclusively on Switch 2. The reason this is surprising is that GameCube games on the service sort of run counter to Nintendo’s strategy with GameCube games on the current Switch. Up until now, Nintendo has been content to release individually-packaged GameCube games as standalone titles – or remake them altogether. Pikmin 1, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are all playable on Nintendo Switch already. That may knock out quite a few titles from Nintendo Switch Online, though it’s technically still possible that they could get a release later.
