We’re still waiting on the March 2015 NPD chart, but Nintendo has already delivered its response for the month.

Several statistics were highlighted in the new press release. According to the company, sales for Nintendo hardware systems thus far in 2015 “have increased by nearly 60 percent over sales during the same time frame in 2014.”

Other than that, we know that Mario Party 10 sold close to 290,000 copies in its first two weeks on the U.S. market, cumulative Smash Bros. Wii U and Mario Kart 8 sales are at 1.6 million and 1.9 million units respectively, and more.

Head past the break for today’s full announcement and sales data.

Update (4/16): Pre-orders open on Best Buy and GameStop.

Amazon opened Mario Maker pre-orders for a very brief period during E3 week last year. After just a couple of days, the retailer’s listing was pulled.

Amazon’s Mario Maker listing is finally back up and running – likely because Nintendo announced a September launch month last week. If you’d like to reserve it, you can do so here.

Details stemming from yesterday’s Xenoblade Chronicles X website update have now been translated. You can find them rounded up below.

– Take the “Doll License Certification Exam” once you reach a certain point in the story
– After you pass, you can obtain “Dolls”
– After the “Flight Pack” is developed, you can fly Dolls through the sky
– Dolls can accomplish an enormous variety of things
– Light, Medium, and Heavy Doll types
– Light: Low HP, high Accuracy and Evasion; excellent mobility in battle; low fuel capacity, but gets good mileage while flying; the price makes it a good choice for beginner pilots.
– Medium: Balanced in all areas, and easy to handle; excellent armor on all parts, making it difficult for them to be destroyed; mid-range priced Dolls recommended for pilots with battle experience.
– Heavy: Very high HP and Defense; able to make frequent use of high-powered weaponry due to its high fuel capacity; their heavy frames make them slow in battle, and they get poor mileage while flying; price, but appreciated by veterans and romantic pilots.
– Dolls perform auto attacks in battle with the Hand Weapons equipped to either hand
– Dolls use weapons equipped to other parts to use arts
– Hand Weapons(L/R)…Rods, Swords, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, etc
– Dolls can equip up to 8 weapons to use arts
– Back Weapons(L/R)…Railguns, Missiles, Grenade Launchers, etc. Use high-powered arts
– Shoulder Weapons(L/R)…Missiles, Chainguns, Laser Weapons, etc. Can use arts more powerful than Back Weapons.
– Arm Weapons(L/R)…Shields, Vulcans, etc. Tend to come with arts with extra effects.
– Spare Weapons(L/R)…Beam Sabers, Hand Grenades, etc. Have distinctly short Recast times.
– Just like fighting on-foot, you can expend 3000 TP to activate the “OC Gear”
– Can’t use fuel while in OC Gear
– When using arts, there’s a fixed chance you’ll enter “Cockpit Mode”
– All arts are instantly Recast after Cockpit Mode activates, allowing you to reuse them immediately
– Can “Catch” enemies who are suffering from “Break”
– This prevents them from moving for a fixed period of time
– All attacks against enemies in Catch are guaranteed to hit, and the damage inflicted against them is increased
– Dolls use up fuel while flying around, and when using arts in battle
– Fuel recovers slowly when you disembark from the Doll, but you can also refuel them at NLA
– Use the console at the BLADE Home to change your Doll’s equipment, name, coloring, etc.

Yesterday, various reports surfaced about issues with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U after players downloaded the game’s new Mewtwo DLC. Nintendo is already on the case though, and a patch is in the works to address all problems.

Issues come about when experiencing the single-player modes, and it’s apparently not just limited to 10-Man Smash in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. You may encounter a bug after trying out Classic, All-Star, Stadium, Trophy Rush, or Smash Run (for 3DS). If you play these modes after downloading the Mewtwo DLC and attempt to connect online, you may be unable to do so.

For the time being, Nintendo advises Mewtwo owners to avoid the aforementioned modes until the new patch has been released. Note that regular Smash, Smash Tour (for Wii U) and online play are unaffected by the latest bug.

Nintendo is teaming up with GameTruck to bring Splatoon play sessions to fans across the country. Over 100 GameTruck vehicles, decorated with Splatoon’s bright colors, will appear at parties with a Wii U console and the game.

Nintendo says that “GameTruck’s onboard Splatoon experts are ready to run kids through a rigorous Splatoon Training program, arming them with the best strategies to take them to victory.” While supplies last, the birthday kid can also receive a Splatoon series amiibo figure.

Update by Brian: Cutting Room Floor, a website that specializes in unused/cut content, has been able to verify the authenticity of the Ryu sound files (thanks Anthony):

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily confirm that Ryu will be included as upcoming Smash Bros. DLC. We’ll just have to wait and see how everything pans out!

According to a poster on Reddit, who is claiming to be a part of the 3DS modding scene, there has been code discovered buried in the latest update to go live for Super Smash Bros. that would lead some to believe more characters will be to come in future DLC. It would appear that sound files have been interpreted as clues for two possible future additions.

One file is a Victory sound for Roy from the Fire Emblem series. The second one is also a sound file that includes the Ryu music from Street Fighter II. At this stage this is purely speculation as Nintendo has been known to leave unused data in games in the past.

We are sure we will see more DLC in the future for Super Smash. Bros. but for now this is just a rumor.

There’s a small but notable option hidden inside the Wii U that most system owners are likely unaware of. Essentially, users can either enable or disable a USB storage device’s sleep function while the Wii U is turned on.

The setting can come in handy for those who have an external hard drive connected to the Wii U. NeoGAF’s HUELEN10 explains the benefits of keeping the option disabled:

Let’s say you are playing a game in where you don’t save often and the drive spins down. Then, an epic cutscene comes up and the game saves before a boss and instead of doing it and moving on, the game gets delayed, possibly even choppy, while the drive is spun up again to save your game. The threshold for some drives is as little as 5 minutes too, and spinning your drive up and down like that over the course of hours for multiple times is very less than optimal.

If you’re interested in accessing this setting, follow these steps:

1. Boot up your Wii U.
2. Go to settings.
3. Go to data management.
4. Press and hold down on the D-Pad for half a second.
5. While holding down down on the D-Pad, press and hold the + and – buttons and keep holding them until you see the prompt above.
7. Select disable; you will be advised that this setting might consume more energy.
