Nintendo is planning large-scale paid DLC for Splatoon 3, the company has confirmed. Actual details as to what the company has in store have not been shared.

Many free updates are also in the cards. Once Splatoon 3 releases, a free in-game season catalog will be distributed every three months for two years. More weapons will also be added around the same time as each in-game catalog.

Nintendo has announced a new set of amiibo based on Splatoon 3. Inkling (Yellow), Octoling (Blue), and Smallfry will be available. Pricing is set at $15.99 each.

By scanning an amiibo, players can save their favorite gear combinations as Fresh Fits to easily swap outfits. The amiibo also come with exclusive gear, and it’s possible to take in-game photos together with them.

Nintendo has also confirmed that some Splatoon 2 amiibo figures will be relaunching soon. The Callie & Marie 2-Pack and the Pearl & Marina 2-Pack will be restocked at select retailers for $24.99 each.

Splatoon 3 has revealed a new gameplay feature called Tableturf Battle, a one-on-one competitive card battle spin-off of Turf War. Players can collect cards, build a deck, and battle their way to the top.

Every player will start out by receiving a starter deck. Over 150 cards can then be collected in-game. The feature can be accessed at the Tableturf Battle Dojo.

Nintendo has revealed the Splatanas for Splatoon 3, a new weapon type in the game. With the Splatana Wiper, players can send out blades of ink or carry out a charged slash.

Nintendo has revealed the full lineup of stages planned for Splatoon 3 at release. Scorch Gorge, Eeltail Alley, Hagglefish Market, Undertow Spillway, Mincemeat Metalworks, Hammerhead Bridge, Museum D’Alfonsino, Mahi-Mahi Resort, Inkblot Art Academy, Sturgeon Shipyard, Makomark, and Wahoo World will be available.

Additionally, more stages will be added to the game in the future. Players can expect more levels to be added via updates.

Inti Creates announced Grim Guardians: Demon Purge for Switch last week, and the first proper gameplay has now emerged thanks to IGN Japan. The site went up with 17 minutes of footage today showing the 2D action platformer.

Niantic has released a new version 51.1 update for Pikmin Bloom, which is now available for all users.

Some new additions are included here such as an indicator to the friend list to show your friend’s weekly challenge participation status. New variations have also been added to the weekly challenge memento cards.

A new game-specific Nintendo Direct is kicking off not too long from now with the Splatoon 3 Direct, and we’ve set up a live stream post for the event. The presentation begins at 6 AM PT / 9 AM PT / 2 PM in the UK / 3 PM in Europe.

We’re in for a pretty lengthy presentation as we have confirmation that the event will be about 30 minutes long. Nintendo is likely to go over some old information, but there’ll surely be new details and reveals centered around the game as well. If anything particularly is notable, we’ll pass it along, and we should also have an official recap announcement shortly after the broadcast ends.

UK sales for July 2022

Thanks to GamesIndustry, we have new insight into the UK gaming market for July 2022.

Console sales across all platforms saw a 16 percent overall dip compared to last month, though we should note that July has four weeks in it, while June had five. Switch is still the most popular console of the year ahead of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Publisher Digerati have announced that they will be bringing Overloop to Switch via the eShop on August 26. Developed by Charge Games, Overloop will have the player creating and sacrificing clones of themselves to solve the game’s many puzzles and obstacles.
