Despite being announced almost three years ago, we haven’t heard or seen anything related to Dragon Quest X. Not a single screenshot has been published, nor has a second of footage been released. That’s all changed today thanks to Square Enix’s “Dragon Quest conference” that is currently underway in Japan.

A trailer was just shown and details are expected soon. We’ll have the video for you shortly.

Sankei Biz’s schedule lists Square Enix’s impending press conference as “Square Enix Holdings Announces Dragon Quest X.” Perhaps they have some inside information… or perhaps they’re just making an educated guess!

In any case, we’ll know for sure in about 15 minutes…

30 minutes remain!

Here’s hoping I’m not posting about this for nothing! Could you imagine if this turned out to be non-Nintendo-related?

The Dragon Quest conference will be starting in about an hour. That means…

1 AM EDT time
10 PM PDT time
2 PM JST time (Japan)

You’ll be able to watch a live stream of the event here. And, of course, I’ll be here to cover the event with any appropriate news and media.

Let’s hope we finally get some Dragon Quest X news and a trailer!

For me, there are really only two types of games out there: Those that engage me mentally/emotionally, and those that make me happy or have fun. I don’t care what reviews say, how good gameplay is, whether the graphics are up to par, or whether I’m using an Xbox controller or a Corn Dog as my main method of input; if a game fits one of these two categories, then I’ll play it and I’ll love it.

For the most part, people don’t really hate on the games with srs business in them, such as Final Fantasy X, Flower, Zelda, etc. Sure, there are some haters out there, but generally speaking the basic idea is that such games are good quality and it makes sense that we enjoy them. The “fun” and “happy” games I refer to are ones such as Mario Sports Mix, Jeopardy, Mario Party, Wii Party, and Wii Sports. What a lot of people refer to as “party” games or “casual” games.

God forbid you try and say that these games are top-notch gaming.

DotMan trailer

DotMan for DSiWare launches on September 15 for $1.99/200 Points.

A quick reminder for the Dragon Quest fans out there: Square Enix will be holding a conference in Japan at 1 AM EDT/10 PM EDT to take the lid off the latest game in the series, complete with an introduction and video footage.

I can’t see this event being related to anything other than Dragon Quest X, which has been in development for a number of years. Based on the fact that the first trailer is included in the Anniversary Collection (comes out in Japan in about a week) and TGS right around the corner, a reveal for “X” makes perfect sense.

In any case, I’ll be up late tonight to cover any news from the event. We’ll also try to nab any video footage for you folks as soon as possible.
