DotMan trailer

Posted 12 years ago by in DS, Videos | 0 comments

DotMan for DSiWare launches on September 15 for $1.99/200 Points.

A quick reminder for the Dragon Quest fans out there: Square Enix will be holding a conference in Japan at 1 AM EDT/10 PM EDT to take the lid off the latest game in the series, complete with an introduction and video footage.

I can’t see this event being related to anything other than Dragon Quest X, which has been in development for a number of years. Based on the fact that the first trailer is included in the Anniversary Collection (comes out in Japan in about a week) and TGS right around the corner, a reveal for “X” makes perfect sense.

In any case, I’ll be up late tonight to cover any news from the event. We’ll also try to nab any video footage for you folks as soon as possible.

We’ll finally be seeing more of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword later this month. The latest issue of NGamer is teasing new level reveals for the next edition of their magazine.

We’re also due for some Super Mario 3D Land news from Nintendo Power soon, so the next few weeks should be filled with interesting information about upcoming Nintendo titles.

Thanks to joclo for the tip!

In late 2003, Nintendo of America decided to finally release the Fire Emblem games internationally with their localization of Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken. Renamed as simply “Fire Emblem”, this game marked the first time that most people outside of Japan had their first taste of Intelligent Systems’ strategy-RPG series. Or at least it was the first time they’d played it.

You see, five years before Marth showed up in Super Smash Bros. and seven years before any Fire Emblem game was actually localized, an animated adaption of the first Fire Emblem game was produced to tie into a remake that had just been released for the Super Famicom. In 1998, this two part, straight-to-video Fire Emblem feature was picked up by A.D. Vision, a recently closed American producer and distributor. Hopefully this means that there won’t be any lawyers chasing me down for posting these clips here.

… According to Nintendo Power. The strange thing is, Namco Bandai hasn’t even said anything about a North American release. We only know about it’s localization thanks to Nintendo Power, who had a scoop on the title a few months ago. Since the publisher hasn’t said anything about the title yet, the magazine’s “Winter 2012” date is most likely correct.
