Tyrone Rodriguez, head of Nicalis, had this to say when asked if the company has looked into other consoles/handhelds for future titles…

“Yes, and we’re licensed to develop on Wii, PSP, iPhone as well as DSi. Mr. Amaya has a DSi and likes the idea of small mini-games such as the ones on DSiWare — especially on the Japanese store. I’d like to get his other games, Guxt and Ikachan on DSiWare; they seem very appropriate for it.

Nicklas also has some solid ideas and thinks Knytt Stories would be great for DSi or PSP. There’s actually a Knytt Stories prototype homebrew by a fan and it’s enough proof-of-concept that the game would work well on DSi.”

I would love to see Nicalis tackle DSiWare in the future. For now, however, I’d like to see some of their WiiWare projects. I’m still waiting for Cave Story!

Thanks to Robert for the news tip!

Rumor: Zelda Wii details

Posted 15 years ago by in Rumors, Wii | 6 Comments

I’ll just say right off the bat that I don’t believe the information below has a good chance of being true, which is because the leak comes from 2ch. The community has been right with some things in the past, but more often than not, they aren’t and news is often untrue, fabricated, or is a joke. Also, how often is it that a leak comes from Nintendo? That said, some of you are probably dying to hear about some Zelda speculation (like me), which is why I’ve posted the questionable details below. Just keep in mind that they might not be true.

– Like Aonuma has said, the pacing of the game will be different than other Zelda titles (dungeon to field, dungeon to field)
– You decide whether to play with Link’s right hand or left hand
– Gameplay, basic game mechanics are almost finished
– Story/characters are being polished
– Innkeeper’s son looks up to Link
– Girl found in the art is not the Master Sword, Master Sword may not be in the game
– Girl’s name could be Adelle, Adella, or Aderu
– Girl is not with you for the full adventure like Midna
– Face of Adelle/Adella/Aderu in the art isn’t her real face
– Link’s sword will have unlockable abilities, Adelle communicates through the sword
– Epona will be in the game with horseback combat, Epona avoids obstacles automatically
– This Link may be The Hero of Time
– Time travel is important
– Game may not take place in Hyrule

Nintendo of America has filed a new trademark for Luigi’s Masnion, which does not have any connection to the title for the GameCube. It’s possible that Nintendo will be releasing a New Play Control! version of the game. Or, if we’re lucky, perhaps Nintendo Dream will unveil in their next issue. A man can dream, can’t he?!

Japanese blog Sinobi is reporting that a surprising new entry in an established series will be announced in the next issue of Nintendo Dream. The magazine will be featuring all of Nintendo’s anticipated titles in addition to the mystery game. Nintendo Dream did not give an indication as to what platform the game is for, nor did it provide any hints as to what franchise they are teasing. Apparently the issue with the big news will go on sale in Japan on February 20. For now though, let the guessing game begin!
