A big Nintendo Direct was held today, but EA made a splash of its own with a blowout of Battlefield 6 – yet it won’t be on Switch 2. The company has now commented on that decision.

Eurogamer was able to speak with EA executive vice president Vince Zampella about the game. As part of that, Zempella said that the company “doesn’t currently” have plans to bring the title over and that Battlefield Studios is currently focused on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

Madden NFL 26 is heading to Nintendo Switch, EA revealed today. The game launches on August 14, 2025.

Plans for the football franchise on the new console were announced during a Nintendo Direct earlier in the month. However, EA didn’t specify if we’d be getting this year’s main entry or something else entirely.

July 16: EA Sports officially introduced FC 26 today – and for the first time, it’s appearing on Nintendo Switch 2.

The game will be showing up on both of Nintendo’s current systems. Fans will be able to pick it up on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch starting September 26, 2025. Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala are the cover athletes.

One game included in today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct which wasn’t present elsewhere was Hono Gurashi no Niwa, which is planned for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. A release is planned for July 30, 2026 in Japan.

Hono Gurashi no Niwa is a rural life simulation game. Yu Mizokami, who previously acted as a game designer on Yomawari, is leading this one.

July 22: Just a short while ago, 2K and Gearbox shared the release date for Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2. The game launches on October 3, 2025.

The wait for Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be terribly long compared to other platforms. The initial launch is happening on September 12, so it’s about a month extra.

2K today offered details about gameplay enhancements coming to NBA 2K26 on Gen 9 systems, including Nintendo Switch 2.

A big element the publisher is touting is the Motion Engine, which is said to be “the biggest change to player movement since NBA 2K21.” 2K is also promising “more authenticity, personalization and renewed focus on skill-based gameplay with enhanced Rhythm Shooting, new advanced controls on Offense, and much more.” Other features planned include an evolution for ProPlay (tech that translates actual NBA footage into gameplay and realistic animations), enhanced Rhythm Shooting, new advanced controls on Offense, and more.

5 Lives Studios is bringing its upcoming game Cozy Caravan to Nintendo Switch, the developer shared today. It will launch alongside the full 1.0 version on PC when it’s ready.

Cozy Caravan is a wholesome traveling merchant adventure. The Nintendo Switch version will contain all the content the game has seen during its Early Access period and more.
