Square Enix has kicked off a new July 2023 Switch eShop sale, and it’s a notable one with multiple games at their lowest prices ever including Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, SaGa Frontier Remastered, and Various Daylife. All of the big franchises – such as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy – are represented with discounts as well.

Have you ever wondered about the origin of the Final Fantasy name? The series’ original creator has now shared the backstory.

While there’s been plenty of fan speculation, Hironobu Sakaguchi has now confirmed what happened directly. He shared in an official interview from Square Enix that the inspiration came from Fighting Fantasy. However, that couldn’t be used “because of trademarks and the like.” Sakaguchi said Final Fantasy was “a last resort.”

To celebrate the launch of Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg, Koei Tecmo issued a new trailer. The re-imagined take on the classic title made it to Switch this week.

Publisher Dangen Entertainment and developer Puff Hook Studio previously announced Recall: Empty Wishes, but we now have confirmation that the game is heading to Switch. The game will initially launch for PC in Q4 2023, followed by consoles at a later date.

We have a status update on the E.M.M.I. figma for Metroid Dread, as Good Smile has now provided a release date, new photos, and opened pre-orders.

The figma uses a flexible plastic in important areas along with metal screws for some joints. Its extending limbs have been preserved in figure form. Optional parts include a faceplate, DNA-extracting spike, and a large-size base. It measures approximately 215mm in height.

Fans have managed to uncover balance changes made with version 2.4.0 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The new patch included a number of aspects, including support for the Booster Course Pass Wave 5 DLC. However, Nintendo also indicated that stats were changed for some characters and vehicles.
