Starting on March 14, Nintendo will be hosting a series of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournaments at a number of gaming and toy store locations across Japan. Stores in Ichikawa (Chiba prefecture), Umeda (Osaka) and Moriya (Ibaraki) will be seeing the first round of tournaments.
It’s important to mention that these tournaments aren’t player-based. Instead, amiibo figures will be battling it out.
The prize for winning the tournament is none other than… a free amiibo. Nintendo is also providing a Super Smash Bros. A4-sized clear file for all participants.

Nexis Games is planning yet another Wii U eShop game. Today, the studio announced “A Cowboy Tale”, which is being designed as a western open world adventure.
Below is the official overview:
The town of Montana Valley was a seeming peaceful place at first glance but unbeknown to many it was a common hideout for some of the most notorious criminals in the West. Montana Valley was composed of corrupt government officials who allowed Outlaws to pay refuge for safe haven within the citys walls.
Players will take on the role of a man who looses everything after his family is murdered. He sets out for revenge with your trusty canine companion.
A Cowboy Tale is due out sometime in 2016. Watch a trailer below.
Nintendo held an event at Best Buy today to show off amiibo and some 3DS games. That wasn’t all though! Nintendo also provided a QR code to obtain a Mii on 3DS for Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma, and a couple of coupons were handed out – one to save $5 on any Wii U/3DS title, and another to save 10 percent on Wii U/3DS/Wii accessories.
We’re not entirely sure yet if the coupon only works at stores that participated in today’s event, or if it works at all Best Buy locations. If we receive a definitive answer, we’ll update this post. You can find a list of stores that were involved with the event here.
