XSEED Games and Marvelous have confirmed the worldwide release date for Loop8: Summer of Gods. The game will be launching on June 6, 2023.

Loop8: Summer of Gods was announced for Switch one year ago. Originally, Japan was set to receive the game in March, but it was just delayed to June. It turns out that all regions will be getting it on the same day. We previously had a Spring 2023 window for the west.

A new launch trailer has come in for SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake to celebrate the game’s release.

We have more information in the following overview:

Original (1/26): The latest addition to Pokemon Unite has been revealed, as Comfey is set to join the game. A release date of February 2, 2023 has been shared.

When a new Pokemon is announced for Unite, it’s usually just that – without any further information. That has happened once again. However, we’re likely to receive a trailer sometime within the next week, and we’ll add it in here once it’s live.

Pokemon Unite has gone live with its latest update, moving up to version 1.8.1.6.

The patch is largely about balancing various Pokemon. There are also shop updates, event updates, bug fixes, and text fixes.

The full patch notes for the Pokemon Unite version 1.8.1.6 update are as follows:

PQube has announced a partnership with Inti Creates for a physical release of Grim Guardians: Demon Purge on Switch.

Two versions will be available, and fans can go for either a standard copy or collector’s edition. With the latter, fans will receive a copy of the game, special box, origami paper based on Maya’s special ability, a keyring featuring the Kamizono sisters, a set of 4 A6 art cards, a 40-page art book containing character art and game scenes, a holographic acrylic standee with Shinobu and Maya in their demon hunting attire, and a set of five stickers.

Original (1/9): A new game is being featured on Nintendo Switch Online for user icons, with members now able to obtain elements based on Nintendo Switch Sports.

The title will have several waves over the next few weeks. For the first round, there’s a focus on golf and sportsmates. As usual, you can nab icons for characters, backgrounds, and frames.

Square Enix has revealed another collaboration for PowerWash Simulator, this time with Final Fantasy VII known as Midgar Special Pack.

The new content will have players polishing familiar places and enemies such as Seventh Heaven and Guard Scorpion. Further information hasn’t been provided, but we at least have the teaser image above.

Original (10/18): Loop8: Summer of Gods has been dated for Japan. The coming-of-age RPG will be out on March 16, 2023 in Japan, Marvelous confirmed today.

XSEED and Marvelous announced Loop8: Summer of Gods for the west back in September. However, a specific date has yet to be provided. The only confirmation given is that the game is on track for Spring 2023 in North America and Europe.

Of all the platforming juggernauts that come to mind when I recall the early 2000s, SpongeBob SquarePants is not among them. In 2020, THQ released a remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom – a 2003 game in every sense of the word. After selling over two million copies, it landed us with an all new spiritual sequel to that game in the form of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. The main hurdle this sequel has to overcome is being unshackled from the weapons-grade nostalgia that propelled its predecessor to success. To be fair to The Cosmic Shake, this is a difficult act to follow. How exactly do you craft a follow-up to a remake of a twenty year old game? Developer Purple Lamp has two decades of platformers to draw inspiration from, and the one it chooses to wear on its sleeve is unfortunately the remake that preceded it.

Nintendo has always been a big part of E3, but rumor has it that the Big N will be skipping this year’s trade show. That’s according to IGN, who “has heard from multiple knowledgeable sources that Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo won’t be part of E3 2023 or have presence on the Los Angeles Convention Center showfloor.”

E3 has not been the powerhouse that it was since the coronvirus pandemic started in 2020. After attempting an online-only version in 2021, the show was scrapped entirely for 2022. Now E3 is looking to make a big return for 2023, but if none of the console manufactures are there, that would certainly hurt.
