Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

Nintendo has opened an official website for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. Access it here. The game will be launching on September 25 in North America.

Update: And here’s another video:

More footage from Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is now available. In the latest video posted below, we’re able to see the construction of a house for Isabelle with the amiibo card.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer sold 523,000 copies in its first week in Japan (four days to be exact). According to Media Create, it saw a sell through rate of 76.29 percent.

When Animal Crossing: New Leaf launched it Japan, it managed to move just over 600,000 copies. It also sold through 96.09 percent of its initial shipment. While Happy Home Designer didn’t quite reach the same amount of success, it still performed very well – especially for a spin-off title. Happy Home Designer also boosted 3DS hardware sales, as the system’s sales essentially doubled compared to the previous week.

That’s not all from Media Create. The sales tracker reveals that more than 312,000 packs of Animal Crossing amiibo cards were sold in Japan between July 30 and August 2. As previously reported, the cards have been seeing significant shortages in the country.

Nintendo will be releasing an update for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer in Japan next month. Once applied, players will be able to take advantage of new network functions.

The update makes it possible to show houses you’ve made to others. Additionally, these players can visit your room and give it a rank. Searching by different rankings is also possible.

It’s not yet known when the update will be available in the west, though we have several weeks to go before Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer launches overseas in any case.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer has been a huge success in Japan, selling over 500,000 copies in its first week. Not surprisingly, the amiibo cards have been similarly successful, to the point where they have been hard to find in stores. Nintendo has now issued a statement that the second wave of Animal Crossing amiibo cards will not release on September 30th, as was originally planned. Instead, production facilities will be used to reprint the first wave of cards, with those reprints hitting store shelves at the end of August. A new release date for the second wave will be announced at a later date.
