Update 2: Added in the official announcement after the break.

Update: How’s this for a quick update? It’s confirmed for March 18 as well. It’ll be a worldwide release!

Pokken Tournament is launching in North America very soon. On Twitter, the official Pokemon account passed along a final date: March 18. The game was previously only said to be coming in spring.

Japan is actually getting Pokken Tournament on the same day. As for Europe, it’s coming sometime in spring.

The Japanese Pokken Tournament website has updated with a few more details about the game. Here’s the latest:

– Single Battle: 3 difficulty modes
– This is a new mode on Wii U
– Local battle mode officially announced
– 30 FPS instead of 60 with local multiplayer
– Online mode
– this has rankings and competitions
– Can use a LAN Cable to link two Wii Us, where the game will run at 60fps

We also have two more sets of support Pokemon: Pachirisu and Magikarp, plus includes Sylveon and Croagunk.

It’ll be a little while before we get a proper look at Chandelure. A trailer for the character will debut at Tokaigi 2016 on January 31.

The Wii U version of Pokken Tournament will have local multiplayer, according to a notice on the HORI controller website. One player uses the GamePad as their controller perspective on the GamePad, and it seems the other uses the TV screen as their perspective. Two of the HORI controllers can’t be used in local multiplayer.
