Freedom Planet

Freedom Planet landed on Wii U back in October 2015. Now after a significant period has passed, the game has received a notable update on Nintendo’s older console.

The new update is highlighted by the addition of Milla’s Adventure mode. She’s now available to play in Adventure mode with several new cut-scenes and an altered ending sequence.

GalaxyTrail tweeted out the news about the update earlier today:

Over the weekend, GalaxyTrail posted an image on Facebook hinting at a release of Freedom Planet on Switch. Some took that as confirmation that the game would be heading to Nintendo’s console at some point, but we’re not quite there… yet.

GalaxyTrail has now clarified that the image was a way of showing that the studio is aware of the huge amount of interest in Freedom Planet on Switch. The team is “currently exploring all of our options to offer you the game and the sequel on the Switch” – so there’s nothing official, yet.

Here’s the full statement:

Is Freedom Planet coming to Switch? Quite possibly. The image above was posted to the official Facebook yesterday, along with the text: “Are we doing it right?”

Developers often announce their games for Switch by showing them running on the console. GalaxyTrail seems to be doing it in a very similar way, though what’s shown on top of the system here is the soundtrack from the physical PC version.

Freedom Planet made it to Wii U back in 2015. GalaxyTrail is also working on a sequel, which should eventually come to Switch after the initial PC debut.

Freedom Planet has done very well for developer GalaxyTrail. Between the Wii U and Steam versions, the game has sold 250,000 copies.

GalaxyTrail posted on Twitter yesterday:

Freedom Planet 2 was announced towards the end of last year. It’s due out sometime in 2017.

According to a listing on the Wii U eShop, Freedom Planet is due out in Europe next week. The title should be available starting on October 29. In terms of pricing, it will set you back €13.99.

Last week, GalaxyTrail finally published Freedom Planet on the eShop. We have a ton of footage from the title below.

Following Freedom Planet’s final delay, GalaxyTrail said that a new date wouldn’t be announced until all bugs and issues were ironed out. The game did finally make its way to the North American Wii U eShop on Thursday, but some players are unfortunately encountering a notable problem. During a particular cut-scene, a bug pops up that can cause the Wii U to freeze.

GalaxyTrail said on Miiverse a few days ago that they’re aware of a problem. There’s no timetable for it yet, but a patch is already planned. GalaxyTrail also shared some temporary solutions.

Freedom Planet suffered a number of delays, but finally came out in North America this week. Sadly though, it’s still not ready in Europe. So when can we expect it?

GalaxyTrail developer Stephen DiDuro said on Twitter recently that Freedom Planet won’t be ready to hit the European Wii U eShop until November. His message is as follows:

When we do hear about Freedom Planet’s European release, we’ll be sure to bring that information to you.
