We’ve got a roundup of news pertaining to GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, including updates, a Big Head mode, and a comparison video for the Switch and PS5 versions.
The launch of these remasters have been a little bit rocky to say the least. There have been notable issues across all platforms, but as a Nintendo site, we’re naturally focusing on the Switch version. While this is also true for other systems, players on Switch have encountered significant issues with the frame rate and slowdown.

Now that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has launched on Switch, first proper gameplay is now available. A trio of videos have arrived for Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has cheats, but it’s been confirmed that a few have been removed. According to producer Rich Rosado, some were taken out due to “technical reasons”. All of the remasters – Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – now run in Unreal Engine. Unfortunately, there were some compatibility issues with cheats that were removed.

Rockstar Games has shared more details on GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, including Switch-specific features.
The package contains enhanced versions of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. They’ll come with GTAV-inspired modern controls, visual improvements such as resolution upgrades and improved visual fidelity across the world, and more.

Update: GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is confirmed for November 11 on the eShop (a physical version will follow on December 7), with a price point of $59.99. Pre-orders are now live.
Original: According to Rockstar’s website, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will launch in November. It is currently listed for a November 11 release on the company’s store page.
Switch owners will at least be able to pick up the package digitally. While there are plans for a physical version on other platforms, it’s not clear if this will apply to Nintendo’s console.

Following previous rumors, Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition last week. New details have since emerged courtesy of the company’s support site, which have since been removed.
As previously mentioned, the package includes Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The support site mentions that the games have been “updated for a new generation, now with across-the-board enhancements including brilliant new lighting and environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances”. Additionally, players can expect “Grand Theft Auto V-style controls and targeting”.

A rating for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has just now surfaced. The game appeared in Korea’s classification database earlier today.
Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas remasters were rumored just over a month ago. Based on a Kotaku report, the games have been redone primarily by Rockstar Dundee in Unreal Engine and will feature a mix of “new and old graphics”. The titles will supposedly have updated UI but will hold on to the same classic style. The goal is ultimate to stay true to the PS2-era GTA games as much as possible.
