Mario Kart 8

Nintendo has gone live with the official Mario Kart TV web app for Mario Kart 8. You can find it here.

By visiting the site, visitors can view Mario Kart 8 highlight reels uploaded by friends, strangers, or even themselves. Things seem to be slightly buggy at the moment (at least on my end!), but everything should work well soon enough.

Update: Nintendo has removed the video. We’ll re-post once it’s live again!

You’ll be performing a lot of tricks when Mario Kart 8 drops this week, but it’ll probably be because of the speed boost you get as opposed to being able to watch your character pull off some fancy stunts. If you’re curious to see how the characters will look before the game drops (and you know, before blue shells and collecting coins are occupying all your thought power) check out the video below

Counting down the days until it’s out in the wild, here’s another look at all the tracks in Mario Kart 8 for those who can’t wait!

Club Nintendo members in Japan can begin ordering the Mario Kart 8 t-shirt above starting on May 29. It’ll cost 600 coins normally, though only 500 coins if users register their copy of the game.

The Wii U eShop’s music has been refreshed again. Sounds like Nintendo is getting ready for Mario Kart 8!

Each entry in the Mario Kart series has adapted a fairly safe approach with the character roster. That does make a fair bit amount of sense when you think about it, as this is “Mario Kart” we’re talking about!

Still, some fans have been interested in seeing Nintendo shake the roster up by including characters outside of the Mario universe. Mario Kart 8 director Kosuke Yabuki recently commented on the possibility in an interview with Nintendo Life, telling the website:

We’re always considering ways to make the Mario Kart games more appealing, but I don’t think that just increasing the number of characters would make the game better. Of course, I’m not ruling out the possibility of such an approach in the future though.
