Mario Kart 8

Diddy Kong has now been… unconfirmed for Mario Kart 8. We initially thought that the character would be included in the roster based on an article from Spain’s Official Nintendo Magazine, but it turns out this was a mistake. Director Juan Carlos Garcia confirmed on Twitter that ONM made an error.

That said, Diddy Kong isn’t necessarily ruled out all together. This just indicates that the magazine was inaccurate.

Might Diddy Kong be included on the roster for Mario Kart 8?

The Spanish edition of ONM has posted a preview shot from its latest issue featuring the upcoming racer. You’ll notice that Diddy Kong is clearly shown among Mario Kart 8’s characters.

I wouldn’t say this officially confirms Diddy Kong’s appearance in Mario Kart 8. Still, it’s interesting that he’s included in ONM’s preview. Could the magazine have made a mistake? We’re just a little more than a month away from Mario Kart 8’s launch, so it shouldn’t be too long before we find out if this is the real deal.

ON THIS EPISODE: Austin brings to us full (but vague) impressions of the independent game The Plan and Jack talks about the worst Zelda temple ever made. (hint: it’s from The Wind Waker HD)

PLUS: We get down and dirty talking about Mario Kart 8 with our hopes, our fears, and how we feel Mario Kart needs to change or improve its formula for this entry to truly stand out.

AND: Finally, the Book Club discussions on Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward come to a close with an hour-long segment dedicated to the game. We all ended with a similar impression of it, so listen to us talk about the goods, the bads, and the uglies on episode 87!

Will Mario Kart 8 feature voice chat? Right now at least, the answer seems to be “no”.

Mario Kart 8 already has a listing up on the eShop. Online multiplayer, leaderboards, and Miiverse are all included in the “Supports Online Play” sub-category. Voice chat, however, is nowhere to be found. Typically, “Game Chat” is listed if a particular game supports the feature.

This isn’t exactly an official confirmation from Nintendo, though right now I wouldn’t expect the functionality to be included.
