Famitsu reported last month that the Nintendo Classic Mini: Famicom sold 260,000 units in Japan over its first four days. Now we have data for the entire month.

According to Famitsu’s data, the Nintendo Classic Mini: Famicom moved 319,000 units. The hardware launched on November 10, and data collection ended on November 27. That means Famitsu’s number accounts for about 2.5 weeks of sales.

Amazon recently teased a couple of “exciting announcements” for the NES Classic Edition. One of these may not be so exciting after all.

Amazon Books have now started to sell the NES Classic Edition. This applies to locations in Seattle, Portland, and San Diego.

We were definitely hoping for bigger and better news (like an online restock) from Amazon. Hopefully that other announcement is a tad more interesting.

Update: The restock has now been confirmed for December 20 – see the updated email below.

Original: Best Buy is sending out emails to consumers about an impending NES Classic Edition restock. We know that it’s happening soon – it’s just a matter of when.

Unfortunately, Best Buy made some sort of error in its email. It first mentions “tomorrow” (December 8), followed by December 20 right after that. I’d say the latter is a more likely bet, but a restock tomorrow isn’t entirely out of the question.

We’ll let you know if Best Buy clarifies the situation at all.

The NES Classic Edition, otherwise known as the Nintendo Classic Mini, is off to a fast start in France. While 100,000 units were shipped, that wasn’t enough to meet demand. Nintendo sold through all of its pre-orders and wasn’t really able to sell the hardware through other means due to a lack of stock.

Part of the NES Classic Edition’s success can be attributed to its demographic. Rather than core gamers, the average consumer has expressed the most interest.

Nintendo remains committed to sending out more NES Classic Edition units to retailers, including France. Shipments will continue this month and into 2017.

Amazon intends to make “a couple exciting announcements” for the NES Classic Edition. One of the retailer’s Twitter account mentioned the news, while adding that consumers can expect to hear something “in the coming week.”

The tweet reads:

At the very least, it’d make sense if one of these announcements were about a restock. We’ll have to wait and see what Amazon has in store beyond that.

Plenty of NES Classic Edition accessories have shipped since the hardware’s launch, with even more on the way. Retro Fighters is now planning its own peripheral. Next month, the “Retro Fighters Pro Retro Adapter” will be available.

An Amazon listing provides the following description:

“The Retro Fighters Pro Retro Adapter allows gamers to play their classic NES accessories and controllers on the NES Classic Edition / Wii U / Wii. Simply plug in your favorite retro NES gaming peripherals into the adapter and plug the Wii plug into your NES Classic Edition, for Wii U/ Wii, plug into your Wii Remote. Now you can play your favorite games using original classic gaming accessories!”

Two players are supported when using the Retro Fighters Pro Retro Adapter. The Amazon listing further notes that it is compatible with “original and 3rd party NES accessories, controllers and joysticks”, though “some functionality may vary”.

The Retro Fighters Pro Retro Adapter is slated for January 15. Pricing is set at $14.99.
