Nicalis

There’s something fishy going on with Nicalis and The Binding of Isaac. Something fishy indeed.

Last night, Nicalis’ Tyrone Rodriguez published a blog post about The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for the PS4 and PS Vita… but there is a mention of how the Rebirth was originally conceived as a 3DS project. And, curiously, the post contains three hyperlinks – one with “3”, another with “D”, and one more with “S”. Put that together, and you have 3DS!

Each of the links sends you to the short clip above titled “Gex Remake”, which features a 3D filter. So what’s going on here? We’ll leave you to speculate.

Cave Story 3D is officially heading to the 3DS eShop, Nicalis has confirmed. It will be available in both North America and Europe later this year.

Previously, NIS America brought out Cave Story 3D as a retail title in 2011.

Nicalis’ Tyrone Rodriguez shared today’s news on Miiverse:

Nicalis has prepared a new patch for Grinsia, which is available through the 3DS eShop. While it seems to have addressed a notable crash issue, we’re hearing that it may have caused lag issues during some battle scenes. Hopefully another update will be issued if that’s the case.

Cave Story 3D came out way back in 2011, but the game was never made available digitally on the eShop. That will apparently be changing sometime in the future.

Nicalis’ Tyrone Rodriguez recently asked fans on Miiverse if they’d be interested in seeing a digital version of Cave Story 3D. Rodriguez followed up on the Cave Story community today, stating: “OK, let’s do it!” That seems clear enough to me!
