A number of new photos have come in showing the new N64 and SEGA Genesis controllers for Nintendo Switch Online, all in high quality.

As previously announced, games for these two classic systems will be available as part of a new membership plan known as “Expansion Pack”. On the N64 side, we’ll be seeing classics like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and more. SEGA Genesis will have Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2, Castlevania: Bloodlines, and more. All of this news was first shared during the latest Nintendo Direct this week.

Nintendo will soon be introducing a new Expansion Pack tier for Switch Online with N64 and SEGA Genesis games. However, those that remain on the current plan will still be able to gain some of the latest classic titles as well.

Nintendo has confirmed that it still has plans to release more NES and SNES games for Switch Online. There’s no word on what’s planned for the future, though additional titles tend to be added every few months or so.

We’ve gone ahead and compiled a list of all confirmed N64 and SEGA Genesis games for Nintendo Switch Online thus far.

Earlier in the week, it was revealed that these two platforms are joining the service, though they’ll be tied to the new Expansion Pack tier.

We recently learned that a SEGA Genesis controller will be offered as an optional product for fans to buy as part of Nintendo Switch Online. If you’re a member, you’ll have an opportunity to buy the device, which is compatible with the classic games that will soon be added to the service.

What you may not know is that in Japan, a different version of the SEGA Genesis controller is planned with six buttons. The western version only has three. It’s true that the SEGA Genesis controller was initially limited to three buttons when it originally released, though it saw a different version with six buttons later on, and it wasn’t just limited to Japan.

Custom Robo and Custom Robo V2 are coming to Nintendo Switch Online – but only in Japan.

Yesterday, Nintendo finally announced N64 games for the service. While they won’t be included in the standard tier, consumers will be able to access these titles through the Expansion Pack.

We’ve already seen a number of games confirmed, ranging from Nintendo classics like Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 to the somewhat unexpected like Banjo-Kazooie. However, in Japan, two additional titles were already confirmed. Custom Robo and Custom Robo V2 will both be available in the region.

Today’s Nintendo Direct provided fans with information regarding Switch Online, with N64 set to be added to the service as a brand new platform. Up to four people can play select games locally or online.
