Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

System: Switch
Release date: November 20, 2020
Developer: Koei Tecmo / Omega Force
Publisher: Nintendo

In true Musou/Warriors fashion, the original Hyrule Warriors was Koei Tecmo’s take on a completely original story that introduced new characters like Lana, Cia, and Linkle and saw a darker, more mature take on the Zelda IP. Omega Force used the studio’s hack-and-slash prowess to give us one of the most intense and action-oriented Zelda titles to date, and now the follow-up takes us back – way back – to long before the Calamity plagued Hyrule in the timeline of Breath of the Wild. The game brings with it the usual Musou greatness Omega Force is known for while featuring Breath of the Wild’s aesthetic and storyline instead of the more stylized Musou approach that we saw with the original Hyrule Warriors.

Bandai Namco has released a new One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 trailer featuring upcoming DLC character Okiku. We have it below.

Okiku will be included in the third DLC pack for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 this winter. Kin’emon is a part of that same pack.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

A couple of weeks ago, we translated a short developer interview for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity published in Famitsu. Since then, the Japanese magazine actually shared a follow-up discussion that is significantly more in-depth.

The interview again featured producer Yosuke Hayashi and director Ryouta Matsushita as well as Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma. The three developers talked about various topics such as the Zelda team’s supervision, making the story, incorporating Breath of the Wild elements (like the graphics and gameplay elements), and much more. We’ve once again prepared a full translation, which you can read below.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 - Kin'emon

Bandai Namco has released a new One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 trailer that highlights upcoming DLC character Kin’emon. Watch it below.

Kin’emon will be included in the third DLC pack for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 this winter. Kiku is also confirmed, though we’re waiting to hear about the final new character.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity didn’t have any sort of special edition in the west, but Koei Tecmo did release a Treasure Box in Japan. Copies include the game, an acrylic plate, paraglider blanket, and metal charm.

Here’s an unboxing video showing off the full contents:

Nintendo has shared a few more pieces of art from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity that showcases more of the game’s characters. Check out the full set below.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

At least as things stand now, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo haven’t announced any DLC plans for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. However, it’s possible that new content could materialize down the road. After all, the original Hyrule Warriors had its fair share of DLC.

Although there’s nothing official yet, there could be some signs pointing to extra characters being added to the game. That’s based on a new datamine involving voice clips.
