Renegade Kid explains decision to remake Moon before introducing a sequel
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News | 1 Comment
Moon Chronicles is an interesting project for Renegade Kid. The game’s first season will be a remake of the original DS game, while season two will offer a new experience entirely.
Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham explained on Twitter earlier today why the team decided to remake the original Moon before moving on to the actual sequel. He said:
@GoldMetalSonic The original DS game had a fairly limited release. But, it was received very well. Seems a shame to deprive new players. π

βWeβre big fans of TV shows like Lost. We love shows that really cement the feeling where you watch an episode, you have a cliffhanger, and you absolutely need to watch the next one.”
βThatβs our plan for season two and beyond, [for us] to approach it in a similar way. βWhatβs the whole point of the season? Where do we start and where do we end up?ββ – Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham
– Rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of the 3D screen
– 60 frames-per-second (with/without 3D)
– Re-touched detailed geometry and graphics
– Circle Pad Pro support
– Out in spring 2014

Renegade Kid trademarks “Moon Chronicles”
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, General Nintendo, News | 1 Comment
Renegade Kid’s upcoming first-person shooter announcement might just be “Moon Chronicles”. Last Thursday, the studio filed a trademark for the name in the US and it was entered in the Trademark Reporting and Monitoring System (TRAM) yesterday.
Interestingly enough, Renegade Kid regained the publishing rights to Moon today. That’s probably not a coincidence!
Now the question is whether Moon Chronicles is an updated version of the DS original or a true follow up…

Renegade Kid officially regains rights to Moon
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 2 Comments
We knew it was coming, but Renegade Kid has officially regained the publishing rights to Moon.
Studio co-founder Jools Watsham wrote on Twitter just a few minutes ago:
Today, all publishing rights for Moon are 100% officially Renegade Kid's. Feels good! π
— Jools Watsham (@JoolsWatsham) January 14, 2014
Moon was one of the earliest titles produced by Renegade Kid. Mastiff published the game in North America, but the company’s agreement only lasted five years. Moon came out in 2009, so Renegade Kid now controls the IP’s rights.

Although Watsham noted on Twitter that he’s not a programmer, he did say, “from what I gather the Wii U is not more difficult to develop for than other platforms.” Simple enough!
Watsham’s tweet in full:
@ShawnLong85 I am not a programmer, but from what I gather the Wii U is not more difficult to develop for than other platforms.
