Rodea: The Sky Soldier

Our first look at Rodea: The Sky Soldier in English will come in the form of a new live stream from NIS America. The company’s stream will begin at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT. Due to auto-play, we’ve posted it after the break.

NIS America has opened an official North American website for Rodea: The Sky Soldier. Access it here. The site contains a number of screenshots, preliminary information about the game, and more.

NIS America uploaded a new video interview for Rodea: The Sky Soldier with creator Yuji Naka and director Zin Hasegawa. Watch it below.

NIS America is now taking pre-orders for the Rodea: The Sky Soldier Limited Edition on its European store. The Wii U version is located here while the 3DS version can be reserved here. Pricing is set at £59.99 / £49.99 respectively.

Those who purchase the Wii U version of Rodea: The Sky Solider will be treated to a special bonus. NIS America is including a copy of the original Wii title, which was how creator Yuji Naka envisioned the game.

In Japan, the Wii version had its own separate disc. We weren’t sure if this would be the case in the west as well, but NIS America has since confirmed this to be the case.

The publisher wrote on Twitter today:

It’ll be interesting to see what NIS America does with the Wii boxart. Will they use the Japanese version (see above), or something new?

Rodea: The Sky Soldier isn’t doing so well in Japan. Actually, that’s probably a gross understatement.

With Rodea: The Sky Soldier not appearing on the Media Create charts, it was a sign that the game had sold poorly. Dengeki, which is also involved with sales tracking, provides a disappointing figure for Rodea’s debut in Japan.

Dengeki says that Rodea: The Sky Solider on Wii U sold 2,725 units in its first week. The 3DS version did not chart at all, so that version sold even fewer copies. Very disappointing!

Did you know that the Wii version of Rodea: The Sky Soldier is the only one with multiplayer? The Wii U and 3DS editions do not. In the Wii game, four players are able to race to the end of five levels.
