Super Mario Maker has added yet another costume. By completing the “Yoshi is Awesome!” course, players will unlock Necky.

This new level was the winner of a course-creation contest hosted by Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. Creator Vanilla KONDO said the following about it:

“I combined ideas from courses I’ve already uploaded and added a few new tricks too. Mario’s adorable yet reliable partner Yoshi plays a big role from beginning to end.”

Polygon has put up a new Super Mario Maker piece, which contains some comments from producer Takashi Tezuka and senior director Yoshikazu Yamashita. The two spoke about the game’s development process, wanting the game to appeal to all players worldwide, costumes, and updates.

We’ve rounded up the information after the break. We also encourage you to check out Polygon’s full article here.

Nintendo has uploaded two more Super Mario Maker levels, both of which are located in Event Courses. You can now take on “Cat Mario’s Course” as well as “Cat Peach’s Course”. The two unlock brand new costumes that are shown in the videos below upon completion.

Footage has come in showing all of the new Event Courses in Super Mario Maker. In the first video below, you can see the initial levels uploaded yesterday. The second one features Mario Kun.

Super Mario Maker has added another new level in Event Courses following yesterday’s update. As of now, players around the world can take on the “Super Mario Kun 25th Anniversary” course. Completing it nets you the related costume, pictured above.

Yukio Sawada, creator of the Super Mario Kun manga series, created the level. The first half contains an anniversary message, but towards the end, you’ll encounter plenty of enemies.

Take a look at an official video for the new course and costume below.

Nintendo may have addressed a number of Super Mario Maker glitches with yesterday’s update, but it also introduced a new one. Players are now using checkpoints to take advantage of another bug of sorts. Take a look at the video below for the full rundown.

USGamer recently caught up with Super Mario Maker producer Takashi Tezuka and co-directors Yosuke Oshino and Yoshikazu Yamashita. Much of the discussion focused on the game’s brand new update. Topics include how the checkpoint system came about, whether or not we’ll see other updates in the future, and the possibility of extending the “Maker” idea to other series/concepts.

Head past the break for a roundup of these interview excerpts. You can also read up on the full talk here.

Super Mario Maker’s new update introduced some new features and functionality. But it also looks like it removed a number of glitches.

Those are as follows:

– There’s no longer permanent invulnerability triggered by entering doors on the last invulnerability frame after taking damage
– Super Mario World Trampolines no longer allow higher jumps when holding an item
– Invisible platforms created with Cloud Blocks and Hidden Question Blocks have been fixed
