Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate getting a physical release in Europe

When Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios announced Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate last month, we heard that the game would be offered only through the eShop on Switch. However, it appears that the news may only apply to North America.
Over on Amazon UK, a physical version of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is listed for Switch. The page also clearly states that a cartridge is included.
It’s unclear why Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is digital-only in the states. Fortunately though, Switch being region free makes it possible to play the physical version on any console. You can pre-order or import from Amazon UK here.

[Review] Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia
Posted on 4 years ago by Dennis Gagliardotto(@LyonHart_) in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: November 3, 2020
Developer: WayForward
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
The last time Bakugan saw any sort of video game outside of mobile devices was back in 2011 with Rise of the Resistance on DS. Almost nine years later, to the dot, the series is back with Champions of Vestroia. I don’t think Bakugan ever had that sort of grip or longevity something like Yu-Gi-Oh! or even Beyblade has, but it’s gathered enough of a following to warrant continued support of the property so many years later, especially now with the new Switch game. The anime continues on with Bakugan: Armored Aliance following a sort of “reboot” with Battle Planet prior to that, so Champions of Vestroia just adds to a big push from SEGA Toys and Spin Master for the series to return to the forefront where it once sat as Property of the Year in 2009.

Warner Bros. exec initially had some concerns that Mortal Kombat 11 would be too mature for Switch

Scott Hawkins, head of the developer relations team at Nintendo of America, delivered a talk during BIG Digital 2020. His presentation was primarily aimed at studios potentially interested in bringing their games to Switch, but he also shared an interesting anecdote about Mortal Kombat 11.
While Mortal Kombat 11 was in early development on Switch, Hawkins met with the team and was chatting with an executive at Warner Bros. We don’t know who exactly this person was, but they were “concerned because it’s a mature-rated title that it wouldn’t be Nintendo-friendly.” Mortal Kombat 11 was ultimately “a big success” on Switch, so Hawkins used this story to demonstrate that you can find “an audience for lots of different types of content on the platform”.
