Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have unveiled another set of characters for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. Five new expansion packs have launched for LEGO Dimensions. These are based on Doctor Who, LEGO Ninjago, The Simpsons and The LEGO Movie.

The different packs offer an extra level, buildable characters, vehicles, and gadgets with special in-game abilities. All expansion pack characters can also unlock the corresponding Adventure World of the same brand.

That’s not all for LEGO Dimensions, as a new “Hire-a-Hero” feature update has gone live. This lets players sample a selection of Wave 1 expansion pack characters using studs collected in the game. To take advantage of the functionality, they can select the hologram minifigure near certain hint stones to unlock characters for a limited time to try out their special abilities to solve problems and complete puzzles. More characters from subsequent waves of expansion packs will be added down the line.

More franchises coming to LEGO Dimensions may have been unearthed via website pages. By modifying the URL of product pages on LEGO.com with certain initials, fans have been finding product numbers for unannounced sets.

A few initials have been spotted thus far. These include HP (likely Harry Potter), AT (possibly A-Team), MrT (Mr. T), and KR (perhaps Knight Rider). Other initials are MI (perhaps Mission Impossible or Monkey Island), FB (could be the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts) and ET (ET).

Despite the introduction of LEGO Dimensions, Warner Bros. Interactive has no plans to stop creating one-off LEGO games.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers game director Arthur Parsons told Polygon:

“One million percent this is not the last Lego standalone game. The first day Lego Dimensions was announced internally, we were told there will be a standalone video games alongside Lego Dimensions. People love Lego video games and we will continue to make Lego video games.”

LEGO games have a tendency to tease future entries. As an example, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes teased LEGO Batman 3 in the post-credits. LEGO Batman 3 hinted at LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. Unsurprisingly, the latter title has a tease as well.

“There’s a tease at the end of this one too,” Parsons noted. “But you’ll have to play it to find out what it is.”
