Sharena is one of the original characters of Fire Emblem Heroes – she was designed by Yusuke Kozaki, who was also responsible for the character designs of Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates. Nintendo just published a video of Yusuke Kozaki drawing Sharena on an iPad Pro. Give it a watch if you’re interested in his process:

A small update was just released for Fire Emblem Heroes, which kicks off the Worldwide Launch Celebration campaign. Until February 20th:

  • The amount of stamina required to play maps in the Training Tower will be cut in half
  • The amount of stamina required to equip skills will be reduced to 0
  • Log in once during the campaign period to receive 10 Stamina Potions

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is out today, and to celebrate, Nintendo has created a launch trailer for the game. Give it a watch:

Philippe Lavoué, the Managing Director of Nintendo France, has shared some insight on the marketing strategy Nintendo plans to employ in France. Speaking to LeMagJeuxHigh-Tech, he emphasized the importance of demo units in stores – not only at specialty retailers, but rather supermarkets and other general stores that also carry video games.

Lavoué first worked for Nintendo during the launch of the Wii. His job was to demo the Wii for potential buyers at supermarkets, and he says that, countless times, people who weren’t initially planning to buy a Wii ended up buying one immediately after trying it out at one of the in-store demo kiosks. He believes that a similar effect could be achieved with the Switch as well, and as such, Nintendo is planning to set up demo kiosks at various French retailers in the coming weeks.

Fire Emblem Heroes is out today, and to celebrate the game’s launch, several of the artists who designed characters for the game have shared some special artwork.

Above you can see Yusuke Kozaki’s drawing of Sharena, one of the characters he designed. He’s also responsible for the other original characters of Heroes (Alfonse, Veronica and the Mysterious Man) as well as Heroes’ version of series staple Anna. Kozaki was also the main character designer for Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates.

Below is Kotaro Yamada’s special artwork of Lyn and Narcian, the characters he’s responsible for in Heroes. Previously, he drew the spin-off manga of Fire Emblem 6, Hasha no Tsurugi.

Super Mario Run can now be upgraded to version 1.1.0 on iOS. Below are the changes and additions to this version (thanks Perfectly Nintendo for the translation):

  • Added a new event
  • Added Korean language support
  • Reduced the number of Toads lost when losing in Toad Rally. Toads are now easier to collect
  • Removed limit on number of times the “Toad” My Nintendo reward can be received to resolve the issue where Toad cannot be received again if, after already having already received the reward, user data is deleted
  • Fixed several other issues

The release of Fire Emblem Heroes is just 2 days away, but quite a few of the game’s details are still unknown at this point. Thankfully, a couple members of the press got the chance to try out the game for an hour last weekend. Below, we’ve compiled all of the new info from GameXplain’s and Polygon’s preview:

  • You can view all of a character’s special illustrations on their status screen and listen to their voiced lines
  • Units have “Assist Skills”, which can be activated when they’re standing next to an ally
  • Bow users still deal extra damage to flying enemies
  • Your chances of getting a Hero with a high star count increase each time you don’t get one when Summoning Heroes using Orbs (the game’s gacha system)
  • If a unit reaches level 20, they can rank up, which increases their star count by 1
  • The game’s first limited-time event apparently is centered on Lissa
  • Story missions have several difficulty levels – Normal, Hard and Lunatic, with higher difficulties yielding better rewards, but requiring more Stamina to play
  • There are different summoning “banners”, which each focus on a different group of Heroes
  • You can turn off combat animations, portrait cut-ins and voice overs
  • Special skills need several turns to charge; they are then used automatically next time the character attacks
  • At any time during a battle, you can spend one Orb to revive and heal all your units – you can also use this to resume a mission if you get a Game Over
  • There is an auto battle option
  • Each character has a brief biography that describes their character and which Fire Emblem game they’re from
  • The Arena uses a different Stamina mechanic called Dueling Swords – you get three Dueling Swords per day, and you need to use one to fight in the Arena. You can use Orbs to refill your Dueling Swords.
  • You can use Orbs to upgrade your Castle, which is essentially your base – the first upgrade costs 1 Orb and permanently increases all experience gained by 20%
  • You can also change the design of your castle
  • Nintendo Treehouse localized the game

Back in July last year, we first got confirmation that a Link Nendoroid from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was in the works. Now, first images of the actual figure have turned up. As per usual, the Nendoroid is customisable, can be arranged in various poses and comes with several accessories, including various weapons, a Sheikah Slate, a cowl for Link to wear and a horse for him to ride on. Take a look:

Apps becoming more expensive due to currency fluctuations is nothing new in the mobile market – and the same is now starting to happen in the UK, although on a much larger scale. Following the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, the Pound has dropped dramatically in value, and as a result, Apple has decided to raise the raise prices on the App Store across the board, by about 25%.

One of the affected titles is Super Mario Run – in the UK, it now costs £9.99 to unlock all of the game’s levels after the initial demo, up from the previous £7.99.

It is not yet known what the game’s price will be on the Google Play Store once Super Mario Run launches on Android devices in March.
