Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sells 459,000 copies in the US on launch day, fastest-selling Mario Kart game
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 273 Comments
In its first day on the market, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold over 459,000 copies in the U.S., Nintendo announced today. That figure accounts for combined packaged and digital sales.
Nintendo says that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now “the fastest-selling game in the long-running Mario Kart series.” Mario Kart Wii previously held the record with about 433,900 copies in 2008 during its first day.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe currently has an attach rate of 45 percent. Nearly one in two Switch owners in the U.S. bought a copy of the game.

Rumor: Full title for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga on 3DS is Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 15 Comments
We have another small update on the rumored 3DS version of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Over the past few days, it’s been going by the name “Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX”. However, that wasn’t the final title apparently.
The 3DS release now appears to be going by Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions. That’s based on data scooped up from the 3DS eShop server. The “Bowser’s Minions” part should explain the presence of a Goomba spotted in the game’s icon.
We’ve been categorizing these posts as rumors to be on the safe side, but many are expecting an announcement at this point. Nintendo may have something to say about it at E3 in June.

BitSummit site lists Earth Atlantis, Dusty Raging Fist for Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch eShop | 4 Comments
The official BitSummit website has seemingly confirmed two new games for Switch. According to the pair of listings, Earth Atlantis and Dusty Raging Fist are both on the way.
Here’s an overview of the first title:
“Earth Atlantis is an ‘Open-World’ retro-style side-scrolling shooter with an original ‘Monster-Hunting’ gameplay. The mission is to search and hunt down more than 15 dreadful sea monsters and explore the post-apocalyptic underwater world.
The game is also presented in a very unique and artistic ‘old sketching’ visual style. We want to create the look of an ‘old explorer sketchbook’ to express the essence of the 14 century’s ocean exploration when the sea was considered a dangerous place and full of monsters.”
And Dusty Raging Fist:
If you’ve been reading the site for awhile, Dusty Raging Fist may sound familiar. We first heard about it in 2013 as a Wii U game. It’s still in development, and it looks like it’s transitioned to Switch.
We’re marking this post as a rumor as BitSummit’s site isn’t entirely accurate. Tasukete Tako-San: Save me Mr Tako! is listed for Wii U, but we confirm that it’s no longer coming to that system. We’ll have a tiny bit more on that game (and a ton of additional indies) later this month.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had a bigger first week than original Wii U game, Mario Kart 7 in the UK
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 9 Comments
In its first week, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe climbed to the top of the UK charts. It was the first Nintendo game to reach that mark since Pokemon White in 2011.
An additional piece of information has now come in about the racer’s performance. It not only had a bigger week than Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, but also 3DS’ Mario Kart 7.
We should be receiving sales data for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in Japan later this week. For North America, it’s unclear when Nintendo will make any numbers known.

Nintendo’s win confirmed in patent case against Mii characters
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 7 Comments
In 2011, RecogniCorp filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nintendo. The company claimed that Mii characters used the same techniques described in the patent for making police sketches of suspects.
But on Friday, a federal appeals court determined that the patent asserted against Nintendo by RecogniCorp should never have been granted. The lawsuit has come to a close as a result.
Ajay Singh, Nintendo of America’s director of litigation and compliance said of the verdict:
“We are very pleased with the court’s decision. The decision marks another case in which Nintendo’s unique ideas overcame unjustified threats of patent infringement. Nintendo has a long history of developing innovative products and we will continue to vigorously defend all our products from meritless patent lawsuits.”

The lineup is as follows:
The Hippy – They hold street parties, squat, or picket an opponent building.
Killer Clown – All round dangerous individuals that cause damage all over the place.
The Ghost – Scares tenants to within an inch of their lives and sends them packing.
Mr Fixit – The repairman you should never hire – he’ll bodge the whole job.
The Phsyco – Stay away from him, because he’s just plain crazy!
The Thugs – These give Phil Mitchell a run for his money as the nastiest piece of work around.
The Thief – Lock up your valuables, because these guys steal everything.
The Gangster – Your chosen hitman. Need someone silenced, buildings burned to the ground? He’s your man.
Constructor is in development to launch in 2017, to commemorate 20th Anniversary of the multi-million-selling city builder’s original release, sharing a dark and wonderful world with feverish fans and a whole new audience.

Rumor: Rough look at the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX icon
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 12 Comments
A couple of days ago, apparent news leaked out about Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX. Data for the game was said to be found sitting on the 3DS eShop through some nontraditional means.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX is starting to look even more likely, as SciresM – who claimed to have found the data initially – now says he’s located the game’s icon as well. Here’s a rough look:
At this point, I’d be pretty surprised if Nintendo didn’t end up announcing this game. News at E3 would be expected.
