A few hours ago, Tom Phillips from Eurogamer tweeted that GameCube support is planned for the Virtual Console on Switch. The site now has its full report up about the situation.

Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Smash Bros. Melee are the first games Eurogamer claims Nintendo has been focusing on. The original Animal Crossing is also being looked into, with all of its NES games included. Nintendo announced Goodbye! BoxBoy! yesterday, and opened a teaser site here. If you watch the little animation for just a short while, you’ll notice that Kirby appears. What’s up with that?

Kirby and BoxBoy! are made by the same developer. Is this just HAL Laboratory having some fun, or will Kirby be showing up in some fashion?

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

The latest issue of Nintendo Dream has a feature on Switch. As part of that, the Japanese magazine sent a few questions Nintendo’s way.

One of the topics was about Switch’s name. While many people have thought that its origin comes from “switching” between your television and the dedicated screen on the portable device, there’s more to it than that. By making a console-level game portable, it’s changing the experience of entertainment in players’ daily lives. The “switch” here has a meaning that’s almost closer to “change”.
