Sonic Superstars trip

Sonic Superstars is taking a different approach to the story, including with new enemy trip. The developers behind the game have now given insight into its creation.

Sonic Team creative officer Takashi Iizuka told Game Informer that the team “wanted to have a new story,” which required a new character. It was also important to have an enemy “with some kind of unique characteristics, some character backgrounds, some storytelling elements that are going to make the character unique and stand out and be a character that people can kind of relate to and empathize with and enjoy as a character in the world”.

Die After Sunset release date

The Switch version of Die After Sunset is almost ready to go and has secured a release date. It’ll be launching on August 17, 2023, publisher PQube and developer Playstark have confirmed.

Die After Sunset, a roguelike shooter, was first announced for Switch in April. We initially had a general 2023 launch window.

What the Golf? Special Events

What the Golf? is about to release its new Among Golf update on Switch. It will be available for all players on August 3, 2023.

The mini-campaign is full of over 35 new Among Us-inspired levels. Here’s some additional information:

Ratatan

Ratata Arts and TVT just opened a new Kickstarter campaign this week for Ratatan, and a Switch version has now been secured.

The upcoming game comes from director Hiroyuki Kotani (Patapon game designer), producer Kazuto Sakajiri (The Eye of Judgment), and composer Kenmei Adachi (Patapon, LocoRoco, Gran Turismo). It’s a rhythm action title in which “the player takes the role of a conductor controlling the actions of a cute army of Ratatan characters.”

The Kickstarter campaign was funded in its first day, and a console stretch goal – which includes Switch – has been surpassed. Over $500,000 has been raised thus far.

Creepy Tale: Ingrid Penance

Sometimes You will be publishing Creepy Tale: Ingrid Penance on Switch this month, the company announced today. A release is planned for August 16, 2023.

Bud Spencer & Terence Hill - Slaps And Beans 2 release date

Trinity Team, Buddy Productions, and ININ Games have nailed down a release date for Bud Spencer & Terence Hill – Slaps and Beans 2. The game arrives for Switch on September 22, 2023.

It’s been about a year since the Switch version was confirmed. Originally, the plan was to have it out in Spring 2023, but something changed along the way. Regardless, it’s finally coming out next month.

Best selling games US June 2023

Circana has released a listing of the top ten best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of June 2023.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was still the top-performing Switch title. After coming in at #1 last month, it slips to #4. Outside of that, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life manages to crack the list.

Arcade Archives Bakutotsu Kijutei

Hamster revealed today that it will be putting Bakutotsu Kijutei on Switch as its latest Arcade Archives game. Fans can pick it up on August 3, 2023.

Bakutotsu Kijutei, which was developed by Namco, released in 1988. Interestingly, it never left Japan. The scrolling shooter is a sequel to Baraduke which did originally receive a worldwide release.

Arcade Archives Bakutotsu Kijuutei will cost $7.99 on the Switch eShop.


Mirrored Souls

Short N Sweet Games and The Bricks Studio are bringing Mirrored Souls to Switch this month, the two sides announced today. It will be available on August 23, 2023.

Mirrored Souls is a puzzle platformer in which players simultaneously control Ravi and Daru in a mirrored screen while solving Braid-like puzzles with the goal of reuniting two celestial beings that have been separated forever. More information can be found in the following overview:

Mario Kart 8 Splatoon 1 servers

Months after they went offline, the servers for Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 1 will be up and running once again very soon.

We previously reported that both games were impacted by a security vulnerability. Nintendo has now officially acknowledged the issue, and confirmed that it has been addressed. 

A notice posted on Nintendo’s European website states that online play for Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon will resume on August 3, 2023 – that may be tonight in North America. Note that an update will be required to access the functionality.
