We’re a Nintendo blog, so we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out Nintendo’s birthday! That’s right: the company is celebrating its big day today, now that it’s officially September 23 in Japan. Nintendo has been around for 127 years having been established way back on September 23, 1889.

While we remember the big N’s past, we also have our eyes on the future. The company is heading in an interesting direction between NX, the new push on mobile this year, and reaching out into other areas like the Universal Studios partnership. Hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate many more of Nintendo’s birthdays in the years to come!

The upcoming digital releases for European just keep rolling right on in. We now know that Ping 1.5+ is slated for October 6 with a €4.49 price point. Originally, Ping 1.5+ debuted in North America a couple of years ago.

In both North America and Europe, you can obtain Polara from the 3DS eShop. It’s a 730 block download in case you’re curious. That translates to 91.25MB.

As part of the Nindies Summer Jam, Severed has launched on the Wii U eShop. The game takes up 230MB on the console. When Severed comes to 3DS in the near future, it’ll be 1,178 blocks or 147.25MB.

This week’s Famitsu contains another article on Monster Hunter Stories. Even though the game isn’t too far off, the preview coverage actually provides quite a number of new details. We have plenty of information about modes, StreetPass functionality, and more.

Tournament Mode is is an offline mode where players fight other Riders in a tournament format. There are two categories:

– Normal Tournaments, which can be accessed anytime
– Download Tournaments, which can be obtained as DLC

Nintendo Everything was at this year’s Tokyo Game Show! We had a low-key presence at the event, but we did manage to try out several upcoming Japanese 3DS titles. Look for our impressions in the coming days.

Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Cyber Arena is a free-to-play preview version of the upcoming 3DS game Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters. It just came out yesterday – September 21 – on the Japanese eShop. The full product will be released December 1 in Japan, though we’ve given the new download a test drive.

If you’re a Digimon veteran, don’t expect past Digimon creatures like Agumon to appear here. This adventure takes place in a brand-new universe where current trending technology like smartphones and augmented reality are prevalent. The new Digimon are called Appli Monsters, or Appmon in short, and are based on smartphone apps. As of the Cyber Arena version, there are a total of 147 Appmon available.
