Rumor: Nintendo pushed back Switch 2 launch so that it could perfect games

According to a new report, Switch 2 could have launched earlier than it did, but Nintendo delayed things in order to focus on the quality of its games.
That claim comes from Bloomberg. The outlet, citing “people familiar with the matter”, says “Nintendo repeatedly pushed back plans for the Switch 2’s launch after its designers asked for more time to perfect the games that would accompany the new hardware”.

August 19: Announced today, Pocket Nook will be appearing on Nintendo Switch from RedDeerGames. For the time being we do not have a release window.
Pocket Nook has players designing charming spaces in cozy pixel art. You’ll be shifting the layout, placing furniture, and keeping everything neat and clean.

Square Enix open to revisiting Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A2, also up for sequels and new games

Square Enix is leaving the door open to just about everything when it comes to the tactics genre, including revisiting more classics such as remasters of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A2, and even Final Fantasy Tactics sequels.
That information comes from Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles director Kazutoyo Maehiro. Inverse recently asked about the possibility of bringing back Tactics Advance and A2 – titles that have only stayed on GBA and Nintendo DS. Maehiro not only expressed interest in that, but also “sequels and new titles”.
First Star Wars Outlaws Nintendo Switch 2 gameplay revealed [update: handheld footage]

September 1: A few days before the official launch, the first gameplay has apparently emerged showing Star Wars Outlaws running on Nintendo Switch 2.
Footage of the port has been limited thus far. The title has been shown in a Nintendo Direct and developer video, but that’s pretty much it.

UK software sales chart for the week ending August 30, 2025 – Kirby on Nintendo Switch 2, Story of Seasons, and Shinobi debut

The latest UK software sales chart for the week ending August 30, 2025 is now available.
There were several new releases this week, but for the most part, Nintendo was able to withstand the competition. Mario Kart World is only down one spot to #2 while Donkey Kong Bananza is at #6.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land lands at #7 – its new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition accounted for 85 percent of the game’s sales. Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar comes in at #9, with the split being 59 percent for Nintendo Switch 2 and 41 for Switch. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance struggles a bit more, as it debuts at #21 with a split of 75 percent for PS5, 24 percent for Nintendo Switch, and 1 percent for PC.

July 31: Just announced, Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. It’s due out on September 26, 2025.
This is a remake of the original Pac-Man World 2 with fully updated graphics. Just like the original, it offers 3D platforming gameplay. Those who own the remake of the first title in the series, Pac-Man World Re-Pac, can unlock an exclusive Toc-Man costume once the game launches.

Nintendo reveals Europe’s best-selling digital games for July 2025

In a recent news post sent out to Switch owners, Nintendo provided a listing of the top 15 European eShop downloads for July 2025.
Over on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s no surprise that Donkey Kong Bananza lands at #1 as the big release for the month. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 also seemed to do fairly well as it slots in right behind. The new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree is a bit slower as it just misses the top ten.
