8-4 appears to be involved with Xenoblade Chronicles X’s localization

We previously heard that Nintendo will be hosting a panel for Xenoblade Chronicles X at PAX Prime 2015 tomorrow. A reminder was sent out on the company’s Twitter account today, and it seems to reveal an interesting piece of information.
If you’re at #PAX, stop by the Wyvern Theater on 8/29 at 2:30 p.m. PT for a #XenobladeChroniclesX panel with Treehouse and 8-4’s @marcmacd.

The tweet states that 8-4’s Mark MacDonald will be hosting the Xenoblade Chronicles X panel. That’s important for one big reason. Based on the message, it suggests that 8-4 is involved with the RPG’s localization.
8-4 has worked on a ton of games in the past. On the Nintendo side of things, they helped bring over Fire Emblem: Awakening, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Fossil Fighters: Frontier.

Petite Games bringing Funky Physics to the North American Wii U eShop on Sept. 10

Funky Physics his slated for the North American Wii U eShop on September 10, Petite Games has confirmed.
The indie developer passed along the news on Twitter, writing:

As the name implies, Funky Physics is a physics-based puzzle game. A price point has not yet been announced.

Azure Striker Gunvolt getting an update on 3DS to add Japanese voices

During a panel at PAX Prime 2015 today, Inti Creates made an announcement about Azure Striker Gunvolt. The company revealed that an update is planned to add Japanese voices to the game.
The Inti Creates Twitter account also shared the news:
Just announced at PAX: @t_aizu says full Japanese voice mode included in GunVolt PC, -and- coming as an update for the 3DS version!

At this time, it’s unknown when the update will be made available.

Half of Disney Infinity’s player base is female

With Disney Infinity 3.0, Disney Interactive made a conscious decision to highlight Ahsoka. That’s because, according to the company’s John Vignocchi, have of the people playing are female.
“With Disney’s IP treasure chest of powerful and strong female characters, we actually are seeing a split with Infinity that’s more 50% boys and 50% girls,” Vignocchi told The Wall Street Journal.
Disney Infinity 3.0 is out today in Europe, and North America is following behind on Sunday.
Minecraft: Story Mode lets you choose your character’s appearance

Today, Telltale Games announced that players will be able to choose their character’s appearance in Minecraft: Story Mode. This marks the first time that a Minecraft game offers such functionality.
It will be possible to choose from a number of options for male and female versions of the game’s hero, Jesse.
Minecraft: Story Mode is due out this fall.
Mighty No. 9 backers to be given access to a trial version next month

Most recently, Mighty No. 9’s was on track for a September 15 launch. But the game was pushed back a few weeks ago, and will now ship in Q1 2016 instead.
The team behind Mighty No. 9 is hoping to make up for the delay to its backers with a special trial on PC. All backers will have access to the download starting on September 15, and it will run for a full month. Included are four stages, relevant cut-scenes, a variety of voice and subtitle options, and Challenge Mode stages 1-6.

Polygon recently caught up with Nintendo’s Damon Baker for a chat about all things indie. Baker talked about how the company doesn’t tend to buy exclusives, its openness to multiplatform titles, and more.

On how Nintendo as a whole has responded well to the different Nindie initiatives…
“Fortunately, the company has been really receptive of it. They’ve embraced the opportunities that we’ve presented to them, and they see the justification.”
On how Nintendo has been supporting indies for a long time, even though the company doesn’t always get the headlines for it…
“I think the other platforms have come out there, and they’ve done a really good job of amplifying their independent support message, and they’ve gained a lot of traction and a lot of visibility for that.”
“I think we’ve stuck to our strategy for some time. We were the first console to promote self-publishing and to allow it on our platforms. And that was going back to the WiiWare and the DSiWare days.”
