Mario Library of Congress

It’s a first for the Library of Congress today, as the Super Mario Bros. theme by Koji Kondo is the first piece of video game music to enter the registry. It will be joined by other songs like Madonna’s “Like a Virgin,” Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, and more.

Regarding the selection, the Super Mario Bros. theme has been selected due to its international recognition and staying power over the past few decades. It’s also featured in the just-released Mario movie, which Kondo also contributed to.

Them's Fightin' Herds update 5.0.0

Them’s Fightin’ Herds has received its latest update, version 5.0.0.

Today’s update is highlighted by the addition of Stronghoof the Reindeer as a new character, though you’ll need to purchase it as DLC. Also included are new palettes, bug fixes, and more.

Killer Frequency

Team17 announced today that Killer Frequency is heading to consoles, including Switch. The title is due out on June 1, 2023.

Killer Frequency is a first-person horror adventure game that has you controlling Forrest Nash, a late-night radio host whose callers are being stalked by a mysterious killer. You’ll be solving puzzles, saving lives, and running the switchboards.

PowerWash Simulator - The Muckingham Files 1.2 update roadmap

PowerWash Simulator has announced a new version 1.2 update, which is known as The Muckingham Files. Switch players can access it on April 18, 2023.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom third trailer

Nintendo is continuing to hype up The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, this time by announcing that a new trailer will be airing tomorrow, April 13. The video will go live at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe.

Nintendo doesn’t typically share announcements about trailers, but Tears of the Kingdom is obviously a different beast. It seems that this one will actually be live streamed.

Inner Ashes

The first-person adventure game Inner Ashes is in development for Switch, publisher SelectaPlay and developer Calathea Game Studio announced today. It will be available on June 30, 2023.

The game puts players in the boots of Henry, a forest guard diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. You’ll need to explore his mind to discover why his only daughter Enid disappeared from his life while traveling through dream-like scenarios.

Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy

Today, publisher THQ Nordic and developer Frozenbyte announced Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy. The game will be released on Switch this summer.

The Legend of Heroes Trails into Reverie features

A new trailer has come online for The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie that introduces the game’s features. We’re able to get a look at the True Reverie Corridor, which lets players build a dream team of heroes and test their mettle within randomly generated dungeons, try out minigames, and experience scenarios.

SpongeBob SquarePants Cosmic Shake update 1.0.4.0

A new update just went out for SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, and version 1.0.4.0 is live.

A number of additions, improvements, and fixes are included. The game now has speed runner options, a Field of View adjustment options, options for adjusting camera sensitivity, and more.

Labyrinth of Zangetsu release date

Publisher PQube and developer Acquire have set a release date for the western version of Labyrinth of Zangetsu, with the game due out in just a few days. It’ll launch in both North America and Europe on April 20, 2023.

Labyrinth of Zangetsu has been available in Japan since September. PQube announced localization plans last summer with a launch target of Q1 2023.
