First 4 Figures is teasing plans for a new figure based on Meta Ridley from the Metroid franchise. Specific details are unknown at present, but we should be hearing more in the new year.

To celebrate the Meta Ridley news, First 4 Figures is giving away 1,000 F4F Reward Points to five winners. Points can be used as cash towards a future purchase. To enter, join the First4Figures Official Collectors Club and fill in the form here. Winners will be selected on January 25.

Nintendo has a solid stable of franchises ranging from Mario to Zelda. From time to time though, they’ll introduce something completely new. During the Wii era for example, Nintendo offered up its own take on the shooter genre with Splatoon.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was interviewed during the TV documentary series
Unlocked: The World of Games, Revealed. As part of that, he was asked how Nintendo decides between using one of its iconic characters or something completely new.

Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda recently made some comments about Pokemon and Switch during an interview with Spanish site MeriStation which gained quite a bit of attention. However, we thought the entire interview might be worth sharing, as it’s interesting in its own right. And thankfully, Nintendo Everything reader Gumbatei was up to the task of translating the comments into English.

Masuda, along with Shigeru Ohmori, talked a fair amount about Pokemon Sun/Moon and the series in general. The two talked about Alola Forms and whether they’ll return, the future of the franchise, and more. A question was also asked about potential Pokemon Diamond/Pearl remakes, but the response is about what you’d expect.

On Tuesday, Nintendo filed a new trademark application for Eternal Darkness in the United States. It was then officially published yesterday.

This actually isn’t the first time we’ve seen a trademark pertaining to Eternal Darkness. The filing we heard about a few years ago is still in place, though only until the end of the year. When that happens, Nintendo will need to provide a Statement of Use if the company doesn’t want the application will be abandoned. There are also slight differences between the new and old Eternal Darkness trademarks.

You never quite know what you’ll get with these trademarks. This one had a 1B filing, meaning it’s an application based on intent to use. That doesn’t mean Eternal Darkness is getting a sequel though. Nintendo could be looking to protect the name, or could be interested in something like a Virtual Console release.

After nearly two decades, one fan has found new test levels within Bomberman 64. Skelux made the discovery and shared his findings on YouTube.

The set of stages are included in a “Test World”. They’re incomplete and lack music, but this is still incredibly interesting to see.

Kevin Bayliss left a huge mark on Rare during his nearly 20-year run at the studio. As a designer and art director, he contributed to Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong Racing, Star Fox Adventures, and much more.

UK magazine GamesTM spoke with Bayliss (who is now at Playtonic) this month, and asked him plenty of interesting questions about his time at Rare. The topics we’re mainly interested in focus on Nintendo specifically. Bayliss commented on the process of redesigning Donkey Kong for Donkey Kong Country, the initial changes that Star Fox Adventures went through, meeting Shigeru Miyamoto, and more.

Image & Form posted the latest episode of The Engine Room today. The studio talked about – or rather teased – its plans for 2017, including the next SteamWorld game.

It would appear that the proper announcement of the new project isn’t too far off, as it will actually be shown at PAX East in March. SteamWorld Quest should be the name going off of what we heard a few months ago, though it’s not officially set in stone.
