The photo is blurry, but Shigeru Miyamoto is definitely at Nintendo World. I don’t think anyone should be surprised by that, though!

Remember the press email Nintendo sent out earlier this week boasting about Wii/DS sales figures for 2010? Well, a quote from Reggie Fils-Aime was buried inside, and may be of interest to Nintendo fans. Nintendo Everything reader Chauncey pointed out the following information to us…

“When we look ahead to 2011, we see new portable technology and more great Wii games that need to be seen to be believed.”

Of course, this quote shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. Nintendo is always creating new titles for their systems. We may know of one project in the works, though. Last June, Shigeru Miyamoto teased that a game featuring a new Nintendo character could be released this year.

20 YEARS OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG

The world’s most famous hedgehog speeds through two successful decades of gaming!

TOKYO (January 5, 2011) – SEGA® Corporation is proud to announce their company mascot will celebrate his 20th anniversary on June 23, 2011.

From the first day of the release of Sonic The Hedgehog™ back in 1991 on the SEGA Mega Drive console (Genesis for North America), Sonic the Hedgehog quickly became a popular gaming icon due to his super fast speed and his cool, edgy character. In the twenty years that the video games have been available, Sonic the Hedgehog has notched up over 70 million units sold worldwide.

Last week, word of a new Final Fantasy title called something like Final Fantasy Type 0 became a registered trademark, and now a website sharing the same name has appeared, created by none other than Square Enix.

The company will be having a conference thing (that’s the official name, anyhow) later this month, and I think with this evidence as well it’s fair to assume that “Type 0” will be talked about at it. I’m guessing it’s a new game, but really it could be anything relating to the franchise!

Final Fantasy Type-0 is a pretty interesting name, don’t you think? The listing was found in Europe’s trademark database, along with a logo for Type-0 with “type zero” written in kanji. Of course, no one can be completely sure what the trademarks are, though Siliconera speculates that it could be a Final Fantasy spinoff. Square Enix will have a press conference next month to share a fair amount of announcements. Might Final Fantasy Type-0 be revealed?

This information comes from series director Akitoshi Kawazu…

“There are many fans who want a Romancing SaGa 4, so I believe that it is my duty to make it before I die.”

It’s not a matter of if anymore, but when. Let’s just hope fans won’t have to wait another twenty years to see Romancing SaGa 4. Perhaps he could give the game a shot on the 3DS…

This information comes from Katsura Hashino, leader of the Persona team…

“Next year, we will be able to announce various titles, I think.”

We know that a new Shin Megami Tensei: Persona title is in the works for the 3DS, so hopefully we’ll hear more about that next year. That being said, the Persona team develops other games, such as Catherine for the PS3/Xbox 360. So, it’s very possible that we’ll hear about announcements outside of the Persona series.
